Anecdote*circa 1872 Maybee was named for Abram Maybee, who, along with Joseph Klotz, surveyed, platted, and sold the land that became the village between 1873 and 1875. The village was incorporated in 1899. Spurred on by the railroad, the village grew to include a grain elevator, grist mill, stone quarry, sand pit, hotel, three churches, two schools, and several small factories and stores.[9] It is primarily an agricultural community. The grain elevator and quarry are still operating, along with several small businesses and restaurants.
From online Wikipedia, October 3, 2017

The exact date is not known, but at least by 1850, the village of Maybee was a settlement in the township of Exeter. At that time, the Maybee settlement as it was called had one saw mill and one general store. Maybee was named after a gentlemen known as Abram Maybee. He was born in Medina, Ohio on June 6, 1835. His parents were Solomom Maybee and Charlotte (Doolittle) Maybee.
According to documentation the young boy known as Abram, came to Michigan with his parents in 1842.
Abram received 60 acres of his father's land "situated in Exeter" willed to him from his father. His father "Solomon died March 26, 1860". This land was later platted for the village of Maybee.
At the age of 30, Abram Maybee married Mary C. Moses on December 29, 1864. There were four children born to them. Three girls and a son. They also adopted another son.
At the age of thirty-nine years Abram Maybee and Joseph Klotz decided in 1873 to have the lands that they owned surveyed for a village. The Canada Southern Railway at this time was also being built through Maybee.
Abram and Joseph soon dealt in the business of selling village lots. They also owned a saw mill together according to the 1876 Atlas of Monroe County.
On January 6th and 7th, 1873, Delos F Wilcox surveyed the lands belonging to these two men. The land platted is part of Private Claims 352,495 and 274.
After this was done, Abram Maybee and Joseph Kloz, both dealt in the business of selling village lots. According to the 1876 Atlas of Monroe County, Abram and Joseph also owned a sawmill together.
According to the death notice of Abram, it was read that he built all of the first houses and a hotel.
In 1890 Abram Maybee retired, he was 56 years old. On Wednesday the 18th of May 1892 he died.
There were four children born to Abram and his wife. Adella, Elizabeth, George and Marilla. Abram Maybee and his wife also raised an adopted son named Seward.

Anecdote Abram is the founder of Maybee, Monroe County, Michigan
Maybee, Michigan is located in Exeter Township in northern Monroe County, about 12 miles northwest of Monroe. It is primarily a small agricultural town, about a square mile in size. Maybee was named after Abram Maybee. He built a grist and saw mill here in the early 1870's. The area grew because of the large amount of timber found in the area, which developers saw as potential for making into charcoal. Several kilns were built originally, with the town eventually springing up around them. In 1873, the Canadian Southern Railroad came through here and built a station, which helped stabilize the surrounding economy. It was eventually incorporated as a village in 1899.14

Death*22 August 1908 Esther Maybee died on 22 August 1908 at Milan, Washtenaw County, Michigan, at age 70.11
oObit*  Esther's obituary read: Mrs. Thos. B. Fulcher, died last Saturday, had resided in Milan township many years, was well known and highly respected, funeral sermon by Rev. Geo. B. March. Esther Maybee was born in Medina, OH, March 1, 1838, and coming to Michigan in early life was united in marriage with Thomas B. Fulcher of Coldwater, MI, Feb. 23, 1868. To them were born four children, namely, Clark A. of Monroe, Perry, who died in infancy and Milo O. and Mrs. Julia Lee of Milan. In addition to the above children there is also surviving, Porter of London, a son of Mr. Fulcher by a pervious marriage. Mr. and Mrs. Fulcher lived on a farm in Milan township until eight years ago when they were to Scofield. Two years ago they took up their home life with their children. Mrs. Fulcher was converted in the great revival that visited Milan in 1891 under the ministry of Rev. Geo. Sloan, then pastor of the Milan M. E. church, and was received into the church, later taking her membership to the Scofield M. E. church, where it remained until her death. Two years ago last January Mrs. Fulcher was stricken with serious illness and lingered along bearing her afflictions with great patience and Christian fortitude until Saturday morning, Aug. 22, at 7 o'clock, when death came, releasing her from the long suffering which must have been greater than ever words of here expressed. Recognizing that death to her is gain we nevertheless mourn the departure of this elect lady from the homes of her children and the circles of friends, in the various places she had resided, who loved her dearly for her excellencies of character and warmhearted, neighborly disposition towards all. Mr. Fulcher, her husband, preceded her in death in May of this year, his passing away coming suddenly on the 6th of that month. This affliction was borne bravely by our deceased friend. The interval between was brief. We hope and trust they are now reunited in the better world. The funeral took place Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her son, Milo, in the village where she had been for a month. The funeral was preached by Rev. Geo. B. Marsh of Detroit. Card of thanks. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to our many friends for their kindness in our recent bereavement in the loss of our beloved mother and for the beautiful floral offerings. Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Fulcher, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Fulcher, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lee, Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Fulcher.3
Burial* She and Thomas B Fulcher were buried at Marble Park Cemetery, Milan, Washtenaw County, Michigan.12
