Hope says, "I was educated mostly in the the 'litle red schoolhouse' at fistrap, except for a year at Coquille, age 13. When I was 17 I went to Rothiemay, Mont., to live with my sister Lovina. I rode the range, herding horses for my brother-in-law, Howard Young. At age 18 I married Franklin Anthony, on Dec. 18 [s/b Dec 1], 1913, at Rothiemay [s/b Roundup], where we met. He was born Jan. 26, 1887 [s/b 1886], at Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., Iowa, son of Franklin J. [s/b Charles F.] Anthony (wife's name and other information not available). "We had two children, Myrtle Lorena, born May 7, 1915, at Rothiemay and George Donald [s/b Riley], born Apr. 26, 1918, at Miles City, Custer Co., Mont. "Six years after our marriage, Frank was dragged to death by a horse, at Miles City, Aug. 12, 1919, and was buried there, leaving me still a girl, with two babies. "My mother, God bless her, came to Montana and took me and the little ones home to Coquille with her. Mother had kept my children with her, but on our return my daughter Lorena lived with Ed and me. "In March, 1932 we moved to Portland, but Mother became ill so we went back to Coquille. She died in 1933 and in 1935 we moved back to our home in Portland. In March, 1943 we moved to Roseburg, Douglas Co., Ore., so Ed could be near a veteran's hospital as he had become totally disabled. "My hair is nearly white, like all the Edmunds, thick as well as gray. I'm tall and slim. When I look at myself in the mirror I see GRANDFATHER Edmunds. "Lorena was educated in Coquille. She was married to Elsworth Willett Jan. 1, 1931, at Coquille, before Mother died. Elsworth was born in Ore. (birth date not available), he is the son of William and Lily (Byers) Willett. "They had one son, James Anthony, born Nov. 26, 1932 at Coquille, Ore., They separated and Lorena married Francis McCarthy, Aug. 15, 1935, at Coquille. He was born Oct. 25, 1903, at Blackville, New Brunswick, Canada, son of Thomas and Angela (Layton) McCarthy. They had one child, Arnold Edwin, born June 26, 1935, at Coquille. They separated and Francis remarried, kept the boy with him, they live in Roseburg, Ore. At present Arnold is in high school, will graduate next spring, then on to college. He is a fine lad, works Saturdays and holidays, has a nice car. His father runs his own store here in Roseburg. "I don't know where 'Jim', Lorena's first child is. His life has been pretty rugged. oObit*20 October 1886  On 20 October 1886 at Woodstock, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada, the obituary of Lovina Janes read: The remains of Mrs. Mabee, the wife of the late Bishop Mabee, who was for many years the Reeve of W.O., was brought from Michigan to be laid by the side of her husband, in the Ingersoll cemetery. The funeral took place on Saturday at the residence of W. Gould, from where a large cortege, proceeded to the place of burial.
The age of the late Mrs. W.B. Mabee of Richmondville, Sanilac Co., Mich., who died on the 13th inst., was 78 years 4 months and * days. Deceased was born in New York State, lived in West Oxford for 53 years. but had been living with her daughter for the past seven months in Michigan., where her death occurred. Her remains were interred in Ingersoll Cemetery. She leaves behind her nine children, three sons and six daughters as follows: Mrs. Stewart Canfield Beachville; Mrs. W.R. Gould Beachville, Mr. Levi Mabee Winnipeg, Mr. W. Mabee West Oxford, Mrs. Wm. Poole Kansas, Mrs. J. H. Hayes Dakota, Mrs. W. Birdsall Canboro, Francis Mabee Dakota and Mrs. Warren Schell Michigan.11
