Birth*27 August 1801 He was born on 27 August 1801 at New York.1
Baptism4 October 1801 He was baptized on 4 October 1801 at the Old Dutch Church of Sleepy Hollow, Sleepy Hollow, Westchester County, New York.1
Marriage*27 July 1828 He married Sarah Berlisle on 27 July 1828 at New York City, New York.
"Last eve by Rev W Levings, Henry Mabee to Sarah Birlisle all of this city."2,3
(Witness) Will21 January 1830 Henry Mabee was mentioned in the will of Adam Mabee on 21 January 1830 at White Plains, Westchester County, New York. "Will of Adam Mabee, of White Plains, Westchester Co., written 1/21/1830, proved 2/8/1831, mentions wife Ann and son Thomas B. Mabee. Probate documents also mention children Henry Mabee, Clarissa Mabee, Charles Chauncey Mabee, Ann Eliza Mabee and Edmund Mabee."4
Anecdote* Family history says he was a Bandmaster in the U. S. Navy in an expedition for the South Pole headed by Wilkes. He was reportedly lost at sea.5
Anecdote*1838 The naval expedition which Henry joined as a seaman was the United States Exploring Expedition, led by Lt. Charles Wilkes. The Wilkes Expedition, as it was known, was the first major exploring expedition taken overseas by the US government and was the naval equivalent of the Lewis & Clark Expedition. The expedition departed from Norfolk, Virginia in August of 1838. It traveled to Madeira, to South America, around Cape Horn, to the Antarctic and to the Fiji Islands before stopping in Sydney, Australia in December, 1839. On December 26, 1839, the expedition sailed again for Antarctica, then to Hawaii, the coasts of Oregon and Washington and finally back to the United States by way of Singapore and the Cape of Good Hope, arriving in June and July of 1842.
The manifest for the USS Vincennes when it departed the US on August 18, 1838 lists "Henry Maybee" as a seaman on the crew. A manifest for the vessels dated December 31, 1838 also lists "Henry Maybee" as a seaman on the crew of the USS Vincennes. The manifest prepared after the vessels departed Sydney in late 1839 does not show Henry Mabee as a member of the crew of any of the vessels. In Lt. Wilkes' final report on the expedition, he listed all the officers and crew who served during the trip. Henry Mabee is shown as a seaman who "[j]oined in the United States; run at Sydney."6
Marriage*27 June 1842 Henry Mabee married Margaret Clausey on 27 June 1842 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.7
Death*23 June 1863 Henry Mabee died on 23 June 1863 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, at age 61; of dysentery.8,9

oObit*8 July 1921  On 8 July 1921 at Cuba, New York, Sarah's obituary read: Mrs. Sarah Mabey Wood, wife of the late Halsey S. Wood, passed away at her home in Abbotts, Friday, July 1, at 12:30 a. m. Mrs. Wood was one of a family of seven children. Of these George, John and William Mabey survive their sister—one brother, Samuel of Ithaca and two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Vincent) and Lucy (Mrs. Hicks) having preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wood was born near Ithaca, Nov. 25, 1843. In young womanhood she came with her parents into this community where, with the exception of four years in her early married life spent in Bradford, Pa., she passed the remainder of her life.
On April 28, 1863 she vas married to Halsey S. Wood, who died Oct. 11, 1906. Their home was blessed with one daughter, Belle, now Mrs. Linus French of Cuba, and a foster son, George Wood, whom they took at the age of 20 months.
Her love for her family, her life consecration, not only to their happiness but others', remain sweet and tender in the hearts of those who knew her best. Blessed as she was with a unique understanding of young people, her kindly interest and love for them won her a telling influence in their lives. Devoted to her church-she used her every effort to promote its maintenance and progress in its various departments of work. Had she left no inheritance other tan the memory of her devotion to truth and right, and to her God, her loved ones would have been rich indeed.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Abbotts church, Rev. F. L. Harburn of Cuba officiating.
The precious word of our Master. "I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am; there ye may be also," formed the central theme of the sermon. The pallbearers were eight nephews, Ray, Paul, Mac .and Ross Mabey, Charles Fuller, Harry White, Dunne Burch and Clarence Willis. The flower bearers were Genevieve and Marvel White, Isabel White and Nellie Roat, The burial was at the Abbotts cemetery.9
Burial* She and Halsey S. Wood were buried at Abbotts Cemetery, Abbotts, Cattaraugus County, New York.1
