In 1773, his two eldest sons, Jeremiah and John, leased another 150 acres, and worked the farms with their father. They were still farming when the American Revolution broke out. Remaining loyal to the British Crown, and taking up arms to defend it, Jacob lost his life during the conflict. John later testified that his father was killed by rebel Indians in 1777.4
