Frederick Fisher Mabee
M, #5659, b. 22 June 1797
Anecdote* | | Alonzo may be the son of Frederick Fisher Mabee Steve Mabie's theory: "There is exactly one case where a family moved from the Montgomery County area to the NYC suburbs in the pre-1850 time frame, and that is the family of Simon Mabee. He married Gazina Visscher (Fisher), daughter of Frederick Visscher (a Revolutionary War hero), in 1792 and they had 6 children (John, Peter, Frederick Fisher, Gazina, Gazina and Alida. It isn't clear how many of these children survived childhood, but Frederick, Gazina and Alida are mentioned in their grandfather's 1810 will, and Gazina and Alida are mentioned in their grandmother's 1815 will. When his wife, Gazina died, Simon married second Susanna Nexon Warner, widow of George Warner and something of a society lady in June 1811. They had 4 more children, and moved to the NYC area in the mid-1820s. The children by Susannah are all well accounted for, but the sons of Simon and Gazina are not at all accounted for. It is my theory that Frederick is Alonzo C. Q. Mabee's father, and Alonzo wound up in the city area living with his grandparents, Simon and Susannah (Nexon) Mabee, but this is just a theory at this point. I have found one document from circa 1820 which indicates that this Frederick was still alive, but nothing on a family. I believe he is the Frederick Maybee enumerated in the 1850 census in Hartford, Washington, County, NY but no proof of this either. There is also a Lucy T. Mabee (age 14) enumerated in Washington County who may be a daughter of Frederick."2 |

"The Will of Frederick Fisher (Visscher), dated 4/23/1808 and probated 1/18/1810, mentions son-in-law Simon Mabee, grandson Frederick Fisher Mabee and granddaughters Gezena and Alida Mabee."7 |
