She was eighty-two years old and is survived by her husband, also two sons, Henry and Oliver Jr; a daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Jones of Fayetteville and a sister living at Cazenovia. Mrs. Mabie was born at Eaton, but since 1865 had lived at Kirkville. She was a woman of ability and dearly loved by her family and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Rev. F. W. Betts of Kirkville officiating and burial was made at Kirkville.9 |

Mr. Mabie was born on the farm where he spent his life April 4. 1826. and was a life long resident of that place. He was a successful farmer and widely known and respected. Mr. Mabie was the son of Mr and Mrs. David Mabie, early settlers of this locality. His wife, Mrs. Mabie, died just five months ago. Only a short time previous to her death. Mr. and Mrs. Mabie had celebrated their golden wedding. Mr. Mabie was 91 years old at the time of his death; within the past year his two sisters have also died, one aged 93 and the other 96 years. He Is also survived by two brothers [sons], Oliver jr. of Syracuse, Henry of Kirkville, who lives on the homestead, and also a sister [daughter], Mrs. W. M. Jones of Fayetteville. Mr. Mabie was a man active in all affairs, a staunch Democrat in politics and a member of the Universalist church Funeral services were held «t the home at Kirkville, Rev. F. W. Betts of Syracuse conducting the services and burial made in the local cemetery.10 | |

He was born a t Cottons, November 11,1840, and had always been a resident of this county. For many years Mr. Bull lived on a farm west of Canastota, now owned by the Murray estate, and several years ago moved to the farm on which he died. He is survived by a widow, formerly Miss Harriet Cady, his mother, four daughters, Mrs. Flora Mabie of Jainesville, Mrs. Fred Bender of Indian Opening, and Misses Minnie and Harriet Bull, who live at home ; two sons, Cady Bull of Syracuse, and Frank Bull of South Dakota, also two brothers, Charles Bull of the town of Lincoln, and Luman Bull of Indiana. Another brother, Marvin Bull, died only a short time ago of pneumonia. Edgar Boll was a well known and popular man in this and surrounding towns ; possessed of a brilliant intellect, sparkling wit and biting sarcasm, well read and thoroughly posted on all events of the State and Nation. As a friend and neighbor h e was kind and generous, out of the largeness of his heart being always ready and willing to help and accommodate. To his family he was a loving and devoted husband and father. Edgar Bull was that type of man who will be greatly missed and always remembered. Funeral services were held at the family home Thursday, at one p. m., and burial was made in Lenox Rural Cemetery at Quality Hill.6 |

Mr. Mabie was a life resident of Kirkville and a graduate of Fayetteville High School. He was a partner with his brothers, David and O. Gerald Mabie, in Mabie Bros. Farm Machinery Inc., Kinderhook Rd., Kirkville. The Plane was owned by Daniel and David Mabie. It crashed while landing at Reading Municipal Airport. Also in the plane was David E. D. 2, who was killed June 29 in an airplane crash at Reading, Pa., were held Saturday at Eaton-Tubbs Funeral Home. Burial was in Kirkville Cemetery. Mr. Mabie was a life resident of Kirkville and a graduate of Fayetteville High School. He was a partner with his brothers, David and O. Gerald Mabie, in Mabie Bros. Farm Machinery Inc., Kinderhook Rd., Kirkville. The Plane was owned by Daniel and David Mabie. It crashed while landing at Reading Municipal Airport. Also in the plane was David E. Stevens, 27, of Canastota, who was critically injured. Mr. Mabie, was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assn., and had been flying more than 25 years. Surviving are his brothers. O. Gerald and David E. Mabie, both of Kirkville, and a sister, Mrs. Donna M. Combs.7 |

oObit* | August 1902 | In August 1902 at Cattaraugus County, New York, the obituary of Hiram Rowland read: Mr. Hiram Rowland died at his home in Delevan on the morning of July 29th, 1902, after months of suffering with brain trouble. He was born June 10th, 1825, in the town of Ashford, N.Y., and was married to Catharine Maybee of Galen, Montgomery Co., N.Y., Jan.14, 1842. He is survived by his wife, and 4 sons James, of West Valley; Leslie of Machias; Frank of Buffalo; Edward, of Franklinville; and one daughter, Mrs. Josephine Cobb of Machias. One daughter died before their removal to this town form Ashford, which occurred nearly 30 years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Rowland united with the Free Will Baptist Church of Ashford and were active workers in that church as long as they resided there. Upon their removal to Delevan, they withdrew from the Ashford Church and united with the First Baptist Church in this place, in which Mr. Rowland filled the office of Deacon for many years, and was honest and upright in business transactions. A man of strong mind and retentive memory, much respected by all, his familiar figure will be missed form our streets. The funeral was held from the Baptist Church here on Tuesday, at 1 p.m., with sermon by Rev. W. S. Warren. |

(Witness) oObit | 20 January 1914 | Margaret Ann Mabee was mentioned in the obituary of Catherine Elizabeth Mabee on 20 January 1914 at Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York; The funeral of Catherine Elizabeth (Mabee) Putnam, who died Saturday at her home in Rotterdam, took place at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the house and burial was in the cemetery of the Cobblestone church; Mrs. Putnam was the daughter of Simon and Hannah (Marlette) Mabee of Rotterdam. The house In which she was born is probably the oldest in the Mohawk valley, the walls having been erected in 1670. Mrs Putnam always lived in Rotterdam and was widely known and respected. She was a member of the Reformed church, better known as the Cobblestone church, and was. an active worker as well as being much given to private philanthropy. She is survived by a son and daughter, Mrs. Charles Henry and Simon Putnam, both of whom made their home with their mother on the homestead less than a mile from where she was born. She also leaves two sisters. Margaret Mabee and Mrs. George Scrafford, both of Rotterdam Junction.13 |

oObit | 27 January 1914 | On 27 January 1914 at Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York, the obituary of Margaret Ann Mabee read: Margaret Ann Mabee died on Saturday at the home of her brother in law, George A Scrafford at Rotterdam Junction in her seventy first year, She was a daughter of the late Simon Mabee and Hannah Marlett Mabee of Rotterdam and was born in the old Mabee homestead, still standing at Rotterdam Junction and the oldest house in the Mohawk valley, the walls being built in 1670. Her entire life practically had been spent on what was her own property, the larger part of Rotterdam Junction proper having originally been a portion of the old Mabee farm. She Is survived by one sister, Mrs. George A Scrafford of Rotterdam Junction, with whom she has made her home for may years. Another sister, Katherine Eliza Putnam, died only a week before. The funeral was held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Scrafford residence.15 |

(Witness) oObit | 20 January 1914 | Rachel Frances Mabee was mentioned in the obituary of Catherine Elizabeth Mabee on 20 January 1914 at Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York; The funeral of Catherine Elizabeth (Mabee) Putnam, who died Saturday at her home in Rotterdam, took place at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the house and burial was in the cemetery of the Cobblestone church; Mrs. Putnam was the daughter of Simon and Hannah (Marlette) Mabee of Rotterdam. The house In which she was born is probably the oldest in the Mohawk valley, the walls having been erected in 1670. Mrs Putnam always lived in Rotterdam and was widely known and respected. She was a member of the Reformed church, better known as the Cobblestone church, and was. an active worker as well as being much given to private philanthropy. She is survived by a son and daughter, Mrs. Charles Henry and Simon Putnam, both of whom made their home with their mother on the homestead less than a mile from where she was born. Arrangements for the funeral, will be made today at the convenience of the family and interment will be in Rotterdam. Mrs. Scrafford was born in Rotterdam and was the sixth daughter of the late Simon .Mabee and Hannah Marlette Mabee and was the last of that family. The Mabee house In which she was born is probably the oldest house In the Mohawk Valley and was built sometime between 1660 and 1670. She was the sixth generation of the family to occupy the old home, the first, being her great-great-great-grand -father, Jan Pieterse Mabee, who came to this city in 1684. On September 19, 1883, she married George Scrafford of' this city and shortly afterward went to Rotterdam Junction where they lived since that time. She leaves her husband and two daughters, Mabel and Edna.17 |

The regiment was assigned to the defense of Norfolk, Portsmouth and Newburn and as a post guard on board vessels of war along the Atlantic coast. The regiment participated in many operations from the stand against Petersburg and Richmond, VA., in May of 1864 to the fall of Petersburg on April 2, 1865. Real action started for Corporal Mabee and the members of the regiment from May 5, 1834, when they were before Petersburg, and they were again thrown into the assault of Petersburg shortly after this date, continuing in the vicinity for the most part until April 1865. Corporal Mabee was in skirmishes at Swift Creek, NC, Oct 7, 1864; Day’s Point, VA, from November 14 to 19; Fort Fisher, NC, from December 25 to Jan 15, 1865, and finally participated in the fall of Petersburg April 2, 1865. An aggregate of 162 enlisted men was lost during the regiment’s term of service and following the strenuous siege of Petersburg, Corporal Mabee was detailed as a guard on a mail boat plying between Norfolk, VA and Roanoke, Island. Anecdote* | 1912 | .... Mr. Evans was united in marriage, in 1888, to Miss Nina Mabee, a daughter of John and Celeste (Swart) Mabee. The father was born at Hoffmans Ferry, Schenectady county, New York, and is a member of one of the old Holland families who settled at a very early period in the Mohawk valley in the state of New York. On the old homestead the house is still standing which was built many years before the Revolutionary war. Many of the descendants of the Mabee family were volunteer soldiers in the war for independence. John Mabee, the father of Mrs. Evans, is a veteran of the Civil war, having enlisted in Company E of a New York regiment. At the close of the war he removed to Wisconsin and established his home in Plymouth township. For some little time after taking up his abode in Wisconsin he was employed by the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway Company, but later returned to his farm where he remained until 1900, after which time he removed to Plymouth, Wisconsin, and there has since maintained his residence. To Mr. and Mrs. John Mabee two children were born: Nina, who was born September 20, 1869, and is the wife of the subject of this review; and Giles, who is a resident of Plymouth, Wisconsin.15 |

Following his service in the war, he married Miss Celeste Swart on Jun 9, 1866. Mrs Mabee died at Plymouth Wisconsin about a year ago. Two years ago Corporal Mabee suffered a fall and was confined to his bed most of the time during the remaining days of his life. "Plymouth: - John V. Mabee, Civil War Veteran, died at his home here at 11 p.m. Wednesday after having been in poor health for the past two years. He was 81 years old. A private military funeral under the supervision of Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post will be held from the home at 629 N. Milwaukee St. at 1:30 P.M. Sunday. Burial will be at Union Cemetery. Corporal Mabee is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Nina Evans and one son Giles C. Mabee both of Plymouth. There are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Anecdote* | Giles Mabee was our 7th mayor holding office for three terms. His terms ran 1891-1892, 1898-1899, and 1899-1900. He came to Wisconsin via New York in 1869 at the age of 22. He was baggage master with the Wisconsin Central Railroad. He improved streets which included opening Elizabeth street between Milwaukee and Western avenues and North Milwaukee street, once a large hill, was graded. A well was dug for fire protection at the corner of Elizabeth and Caroline streets for $306. An ordinance was adopted making it unlawful to throw garbage into the Mullet River, including dead animals, entrails, blood, manure, filth or unwholesome substances, or matter or contents from any privy vault. Fines were set at $25. Mr. Mabee's council sold the old Lutheran Church for $75 which Mr. Pfeiffer's council bought back for $100. In the election of 1893, votes for Mr. Mabee and W.C. Saeman were tied, resulting in a drawing by the Clerk which favored Mr. Saeman for mayor. Two other gentlemen held the office of mayor when in 1898 Mr. Mabee returned for two additional terms.11 | |

Sixteen thousand dollars is divided among local charitable institutions as follows: Onondaga Orphan asylum $8,000; Home association $3,000; St. Joseph's hospital $2,000; Y. M. C. A., $3,000; St. Vincent's Orphan asylum $l,000; Plymouth church $3,000; House of Good Shepard $2,000; Shelter $1,000. The estate goes principally to the widow and two children, Charles Mabie and Charlotte Crouse Klock. The will gives the widow the household furniture and homestead and $100,000. Each of the children is then given $100,000. After a number of small bequests are paid to relatives, the balance of the estate is divided between, his wife and two children. The will is dated July 10, 1899."10 |
