He was a high school band/orchestra director in Montgomery County Public Schools for 23 years and was named the Maryland State Music Teacher of the Year in 1981.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Jill Maisch and husband Bill of Damascus; two sons, Jeffrey Allen and wife Jeannie of New Market and Doug Allen and wife Laura of Wellington, Ohio; one sister, Doris Dragovich of Dover, Ohio; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Martie Krieger of Tiffin, Ohio.5

Mabie was mentioned in the obituary of Mary Frances Meddaugh on 18 April 1935 at Poughkeepsie, Dutchess County, New York; Mrs. Mary Frances Mabie of 18 Rose street, widow of Charles E. Mabie, who celebrated her 90th birthday last November 15, died last night at her home. In an interview given on her 90th birthday Mrs. Mabie told viewing the body of President Lincoln, soon after his assassination.
Mrs. Mabie, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Meddaugh, was a native of this city. She was a member of the Washington Street, M. E. church. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Cora F. Quien and Josephine Mabie, both of 18 Rose street, and Charles Mabie of Kelsey road.
Funeral services will be held at her late home Saturday afternoon at 2 with the Rev. A. George Feare of the Trinity M. E. church officiating. Burial will be in the Manchester cemetery in charge of Willard C. Selfridge, undertaker.7

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Cora F. Quien of 18 Rose street, this city; a brother, Charles V. Mabie of this city and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will bo held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of her sister, with Dr. Claude C Coile, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Manchester cemetery, under the direction of A. Raymond Barrett.9

Mabie, who celebrated her 90th birthday last November 15, died last night at her home. In an interview given on her 90th birthday Mrs. Mabie told viewing the body of President Lincoln, soon after his assassination.
Mrs. Mabie, who was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Meddaugh, was a native of this city. She was a member of the Washington Street, M. E. church. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Cora F. Quien and Josephine Mabie, both of 18 Rose street, and Charles Mabie of Kelsey road.
Funeral services will be held at her late home Saturday afternoon at 2 with the Rev. A. George Feare of the Trinity M. E. church officiating. Burial will be in the Manchester cemetery in charge of Willard C. Selfridge, undertaker.7

Born in Sharon, the daughter of the late Charles L. and Mary Meddaugh Mabie, Miss Mabie had spent the greater part of her life in this city.
She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Cora F. Quien of 18 Rose street, this city; a brother, Charles V. Mabie of this city and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will bo held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of her sister, with Dr. Claude C Coile, pastor of Trinity Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Manchester cemetery, under the direction of A. Raymond Barrett.10

Many knew Mr Mabie as the sewing machine man at the Wallace Company in Poughkeepsie, where he worked for 30 years. At age 45 Mr Mabie decided to change careers. He began his college education at Dutchess Community College and went on to the State University of New York at New Paltz, earning his B.A. and M.A. in English and Education. He taught English at Arlington Junior High School for several years before retirement from this second career, having taught many area residents the joys of English Literature. For many years he was a member of the Poughkeepsie Masonic Lodge. A lifelong area resident, Mr Mabie waas an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing at his beloved Mt Riga, near Millerton.
There will be no calling hours.
A service will be held for family and friends at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum at 11 am Thursday, Feb 7.

Edmund was 86 years old and at the time of his death was living with his daughter and son-in-law in Fishkill, New York."8

Also surviving are two daughters, Jacqueline Johnson Castagno, M.D. of Roswell, GA and Jill Johnson Rendeiro of Avon, CT; five grandchildren. Christopher Rendeiro, Gregory Rendeiro, Caroline Rendeiro, Anna Castagno and Michael Castagno; and a brother, Jan E. Mabie of Milledgeville, GA.
Mrs. Johnson was educated in the Poughkeepsie schools and received her undergraduate and masters degrees from SUNY New Paltz. She taught for thirty three years in the Arlington school system before retiring in 1994. She is remembered by her students as a teacher with high standards, a flair for the dramatic and a quick sense of humor. After retiring, Chris's greatest joy was entertaining her grandchildren who adored her bubbly spirit another wonderful ability to play at their level. She also loved lounging in her pool, surrounded by the beautiful garden she designed and nurtured She was a devoted daughter who tenderly cared for her aging parents until their deaths. An accomplished gourmet cook, she perfected a broad range of dishes from the simple raspberry "Grammy Jam" to a sublime Norman Rabbit Stew. She enjoyed travel and had plans to celebrate her and Ollie's upcoming 50th wedding anniversary with a Mediterranean cruise.
Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 7th at the Timothy P Doyle Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Avenue in Poughkeepsie. A Memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Doyle Funeral Home.3

She was a member of the Calvary EUB Church and the Harmony Circle of the Good will Home Economics club. Survivors include two sons, Eldred Mabie, Rt 2, Syracuse; Audon Mabie, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Eloise) Method, Syracuse; Mrs. O.C. (Kathryn) Daft, Greenwood; three sisters, Miss Minnie Lloyd, Indianapolis; Mrs. Ezra (Glynnora) Graham, Warsaw; Mrs. S.T. (Erma) Iden, Valpariso; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Harris Funeral Home. Rev. Kennard Robinson will officiate and interment will be in the Syracuse cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 p.m. today until the hour of service on Sunday.10

Besides the widow, two sons, Bert O. Mabie, of Warsaw, and Thomas A. Mabie of Kansas City, one daughter, Mrs Blanche Hazen of South Bend, one sister, Mrs. Charles Weimer of near North Webster, and seven grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held at the home at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be at North Webster.4 
Death*August 1975 Blanche E. Mabie died in August 1975 at Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, at age 91.5

Mr Mabie is survived by his wife, Mercedes Rockefeller Mabie, with whom they celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2001. He also leaves two sisters Evelyn Danilevics of Hyde Park and Patricia Magette of Ahoskie, N. C; a son, Dr. Jan Edmund Mabie of Milledgeville, Ga; and a daughter, Christine M. Johnson of Fishkill; three grandchildren, Dr Jaquelyn Johnson Castanago of Roswell, Ga; Jill Johnson Rendeiro of Avon, Conn; and Dr Matthew Wheeler Mabie of Memphis Tenn. He is also survived by four great grandchildren, Christopher, Gregory and Caroline Renderio of Avon, Conn., and Lauren Mabie of Memphis, Tenn.
Many knew Mr Mabie as the sewing machine man at the Wallace Company in Poughkeepsie, where he worked for 30 years. At age 45 Mr Mabie decided to change careers. He began his college education at Dutchess Community College and went on to the State University of New York at New Paltz, earning his B.A. and M.A. in English and Education. He taught English at Arlington Junior High School for several years before retirement from this second career, having taught many area residents the joys of English Literature. For many years he was a member of the Poughkeepsie Masonic Lodge. A lifelong area resident, Mr Mabie waas an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing at his beloved Mt Riga, near Millerton.
There will be no calling hours.
A service will be held for family and friends at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery Mausoleum at 11 am Thursday, Feb 7.
