Mabie, 77, expired Wednesday morning at 12:45 o:clock at his home at 321 South Detroit Street. Dr. Mabie had been ill for the past week and ailing for the past five years, suffering from general breakdown, due to paralysis. Dr. Mabie was born in Kosciusko county, May 16, 1857, son of Eli and Eliza Mabie. He resided in this county all his life. He was united in marriage December 30, 1876, to Katherine Secrist, who is among the surviving relatives. Dr. Mabie was a veterinarian by profession. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Besides the widow, two sons, Bert O. Mabie, of Warsaw, and Thomas A. Mabie of Kansas City, one daughter, Mrs Blanche Hazen of South Bend, one sister, Mrs. Charles Weimer of near North Webster, and seven grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held at the home at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon. Burial will be at North Webster.9

(Witness) oObit27 February 1943 Thomas Arthur Mabie was mentioned in the obituary of Bert Orrin Mabie on 27 February 1943 at Warsaw, Indiana; Bert Orian Mabie, 65, was found dead at his home on East Clark Street about one o:clock Friday afternoon by a neighbor, Mrs. Leedy. The body was in an upright position in a chair. It is believed he died the night before of a heart attack. Mr. Mabie was born near North Webster, Aug 31, 1877, the son of William A. and Catherine Mabie. Several years ago he was a candidate for the Republican nomination as sheriff, an office once held by his father, the late Dr. William A. Mabie. He served as deputy sheriff during his father's incumbency. He served a number of years as constable in Turkey Creek Township, being very active in law-enforcement around Lake Wawasee. He had resided in Warsaw the past 16 years and was a member of the Christian church. The surviving relatives are two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Method, of Syracuse; Mrs. O.C. Daft, of Indianapolis; two sons, Eldred Mabie, of near Syracuse; Auldon Mabie, of Warsaw; one brother Thomas A. Mabie of Kansas City, Mo; and one sister Mrs. L. F. Hazel, of South Bend. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Landis funeral home, Rev. A.V. Hayes of the Christian church, will have charge of the service, and burial will be made in North Webster cemetery.11
