oObit | 22 November 1899 | On 22 November 1899 at Otsego, Allegan County, Michigan, the obituary of Angelina Heilborn read: Mrs. Truman Maybee died at her home in the village at 12 o'clock Friday afternoon after an illness of about 6 weeks. Mrs. Maybee was born in Ohio, January 4, 1855. She was married first to Van Ransellor Birdsell, and to them were born three children, William and Otis Birdsell of this place and Mrs. Mamie Bush of Nebraska. Her husband died and May 30, 1885 in Moline, she married the husband who survives her. To them one girl, now 13 years of age was born. Eight years ago she came to this village to reside. Besides her husband and her children, she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Joseph Root, Mrs. Ockerman and Mrs. Robert Leighton, one brother, Charles Hilburn of Saginaw and her aged parents who have resided with her. A post mortem examination was held at which Drs. Van Horn and Toan and Chase were present. The disease which caused her death was termed anteritis. Funeral services were held from the house at 2:30 Sunday, conducted by Rev. O.F. Dickey, Internment was made in Mountain Home cemetery."5 |

Maybee died at his home in the village yesterday afternoon after a long illness from consumption. Truman D. Maybee was born in Montcalm County, Michigan and was 43 years, and 7 months old at the time of his death. He had lived here many years and was employed in the mills of the Bardeen Paper Company. Mr. Maybe professed faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior while on his sick bed and he was baptised by the Rev. H.D. Skinner some days ago. A daughter and an aged mother survive him. The funeral will be held from the house Friday afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. Skinner.3 |
