Born Oct. 11, 1923, in Sidell, Ill., he was a son of Howard and Hazel Mabee. Louis served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, worked as a mechanic for Essex Wire, enjoyed volunteering at Lutheran Hospital for over 22 years, and was a member of Avalon Missionary Church. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mildred; sons, Daniel of New Haven, Kenneth of Fredericksburg, Va., James of Fort Wayne, and Duane of Chatanooga, Tenn; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46819), with visitation one hour prior.
