Toronto, Ont, July 26 – Deaths from poisonous liquors in Toronto and vicinity have reached the total of 13, with the addition of three new victims: Mrs Olive Guerten, Toronto, William Bacon, Hamilton, and John Lyons, Oakville.
Three are in custody in connection with the distribution of the alleged poisonous beverage. They are Mrs Ruth Maybee, Toronto and her two children, and Bert Dangelo, Hamilton. William Maybee, husband of Ruth Maybee, died Saturday of liquor poisoning after he had been arrested on a charge of selling the poisoned liquor.9

Supplee, retired Army officer whose career included service in three wars, died yesterday of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home, 176 South Harrison Street. He was 77 years old. Colonel Supplee enlisted in the Maryland National Guard during the Spanish-American War. He was discharged as a lieutenant in 1899 and and re-entered the Army two years later. In World War I he served at the Embarkation Office at Newport News, VA, and in World War II as Commander of Special Services at Governors Island. He was assigned to Fort Niagara when he retired, in Aug. 1943. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Litta Mabie Supplee, a stepdaughter Mrs. Dorothea M. Lein, of this place, and a stepson, Theodore Mendelssohn of Indianapolis.13

Anecdote*15 May 1919 Col. James Mabee Chief Surgeon, 3rd Army Corps, has been awarded the Croix de Guerre with palm. Until the signing of the armistice Colonel Mabee was chief surgeon with the 1st division and it was while acting as such the the service this signally honored was rendered. Col. Mabee came to Syracuse as Major Mabee, early in the spring of 1917. Soon after his arrival he delivered a series of lectures in the College of Medicine, Syracuse University, on Military Medicine and Surgery. When he was ordered to France with the first troops to leave in June 1917, Mrs. Mabee continued as a resident of Syracuse.10

He was associated with Ideal Electric for 53 years and at the time of his retirement in 1977 was treasurer of the company. Mr. Mabee was a member of the First Christian Church and the Retmen's Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Doris Mabee, one daughter, Mrs. David (Darlene) D. Starr of South Windsor, Conn; and two grandchildren.3 
Burial He and Doris Arlene Frye were buried at Mansfield Memorial Park, Ontario, Richland County, Ohio.10
