In World War I he served at the Embarkation Office at Newport News, VA, and in World War II as Commander of Special Services at Governors Island. He was assigned to Fort Niagara when he retired, in Aug. 1943. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Litta Mabie Supplee, a stepdaughter Mrs. Dorothea M. Lein, of this place, and a stepson, Theodore Mendelssohn of Indianapolis.13 |

Until the signing of the armistice Colonel Mabee was chief surgeon with the 1st division and it was while acting as such the the service this signally honored was rendered. Col. Mabee came to Syracuse as Major Mabee, early in the spring of 1917. Soon after his arrival he delivered a series of lectures in the College of Medicine, Syracuse University, on Military Medicine and Surgery. When he was ordered to France with the first troops to leave in June 1917, Mrs. Mabee continued as a resident of Syracuse.10 |
