He was born March 28, 1930, in Cheyenne. He was a third-generation, oldest son of a Wyoming pioneer family. A tough-minded independent, with the qualities that made it possible to survive the harsh Western plains winters. He loved the open spaces, hunting and fishing and was happy to share his knowledge. Mr. Mabie graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Wyoming in 1955. He finished his engineering career in 1980 when he retired to run the family farm and Lotta's Soda Fountain in Chugwater. He was proud to have brought the malt back to Platte County. Mr. Mabie left us after an extended stretch of bad health. He will be missed by family, friends and pets. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Leslie Mabie; a daughter, Patricia (Mabie) Snook; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Marge Mabie of Cheyenne; grandchildren, Jay, Jennifer, Julie and Jackie Mabie, Ron Watters, Linda (Watters) Stanley, Ray Chet Watters, Jon, Michelle, Stephanie, Amber, Ashley, Brydon; two great-grandchildren, Anthony and Cameron; and Nina, Cali, Goldie, Smokey, Dusty, birds, squirrels and rabbits on Cheshire.
