(Witness) oObit1 January 1917 Helen Rockwell Mabie was mentioned in the obituary of Hamilton Wright Mabie on 1 January 1917 at New York City, New York; Dr. Hamilton Wright Mabie, associate editor of the Outlook, died at his home in Fernwood road. Summit. N. J., yesterday of asthma, an attack of which brought him to his bed ten days ago.
Dr. Mabie's health had been falling since a year ago when, while filing a professional engagement in Philadelphia he had an attack of acute indigestion. He was in a Philadelphia hospital for three weeks and then returned home. His health .continued to be poor, bat improved enough over the rammer to enable him to go to his office about two months ago.
Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday, morning in the Calvary Episcopal . Church at Summit. Bishop Edward S. Lines of the Diocese of Newark, the Rev. Dr. Walker Gwynne, rector emeritus .of Calvary Church, and the Rev. Waiter O. Kinsolvlng. rector of the church, will conduct them.
Dr. Mabie, editor, author and literary expert, was born In Cold Spring, N. Y., December 13. 1846. He was graduated from Williams College in 1867, and from Columbia University with, the degree of LL B. in 1869.
For a time he practiced law, and in 1879 he joined the staff of the Outlook. Since then he served continuously on that publication. In 1884 he became associate editor, a post which he held without interruption until his death. At various times he had charge of the literary departments of other publications, including the Ladies Howe Journal
He wrote hundreds of essays upon a wide range of subjects. His first book was brought out thirty-four years ago and since then he had written many volumes, besides many essays. for magazines. which were never gathered into book form.
Among hla books were "Norse Stories Retold Prom the Eddas." "Nature in New England." "My study Fire" (first series and second series); "Short Studies in Literature." "Under the Trees and Elsewhere." "Essays in Literary Interpretation." "Nature and Culture," "Books and Culture." "Work and Culture." "The life of the Spirit." "William Shakespeare—Poet. Dramatist and Man." "Works and Days." "Parables of Life." "Backgrounds- of Literature." "Myths Every Child Should Know." "Fairy Tales Every Child 8hould Know." "The Great Word." "Heroes Every Child Should Know." "Legends Every Child Should Know." "Christmas To-day." "Introductions to Notable Poems." "American Idols. Character and Life." "Japan. To-day and To-morrow."
In the fall of 1913 Dr. Mabie was commissioned by the Carnegie Foundation for International Peace to spend a year in Japan delivering lectures to develop in Japan a knowledge of American character and sympathy with our ideals.
Dr Mabie received several honorary degrees from colleges and universities. Among them are an L. H. D. from Williams College, received in 1890; LL D. from Union College. 1899; from Western Reserve in 1904, and from Washington and Lee College, 1906. He was a trustee of Williams College, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and president of the New York
Kindergarten Association.
In 1876 be married Miss Jeanette Trivett of Poughkeepsie. She survives him. and also one daughter. Miss Helen Mabie. He belonged to the Century and Authors clubs and the Huguenot Society.
Col. Roosevelt was shocked last night to hear of Dr. Mabie's death.
"I am greatly concerned" he said. "I was devoted to Dr. Mabie. He was one of the sweetest tempered and highest minded men I ever met. It was a constant pleasure for me to be associated with him."6

All that tract or parcel of land situate in the Town of Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York, and known as the Roger W. Rowland farm.... oObit*25 June 1909  On 25 June 1909 at Ithaca, New York, Theodore's obituary read: At 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, at the state hospital, Theodore Mabee, aged 75 years, died. He is Survived by three sons, E. J. Mabee, Candor; C. T. Mabee, Candor, and C. S . Mabee, Ithaca, N, Y. Funeral services will be held from the home of C. S . Mabee, on the Danby road, at 11 a. m. Monday. The Rev. B. F . Tobey of Danby will officiate. Interment will be in King's Cemetery.11 
Funeral*28 June 1909  On 28 June 1909 a funeral was held for Theodore Mabee at Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York. "The funeral of Theodore Mabee was held Monday from the home of his son, C. S. Mabee. The Rev. B. F. Tobey officiated. Interment was in King Cemetery."12

oObit*6 September 1912  On 6 September 1912 at Ithaca, New York, Martin's obituary read: Relatives and friends here of Martin V. Mabee, a veteran of the Civil War and a member of Sydney Post, No. 41, G. A. R., have been informed of his death a week ago last Wednesday at the Soldiers' Home in Bath. The funeral services were held there and the remains interred in the cemetery in connection with the home. He was about 69 years of age and had been ill for a long time with Bright's disease. For many years he was a resident of the city. He is survived by three brothers, Nathaniel T. Mabee of this city, George of Elmira, and Jacob of Alpine.13 
Burial He was buried at Bath National Cemetery, Bath, New York. Inscription "Pvt Co D 137 NY Inf Reconstruction Aide."14

oObit*2 December 1912  On 2 December 1912 at Ithaca, New York, Nathaniel's obituary read: Nathaniel T Mabee died suddenly yesterday at his home, 119 Hudson Street. Mr. Mabee was stricken with apoplexy yesterday morning and died last evening. He was 65 years old. Besides his wife he leaves a son, who resides in Cortland, and a daughter, Mrs. Edna True, of Rochester.
The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the home and will be private. The Rev. Wallace E. Brown will officiate. Interment will be in Lake View Cemetery.15

Mabee, a veteran of the Civil War and a member of Sydney Post, No. 41, G. A. R., have been informed of his death a week ago last Wednesday at the Soldiers' Home in Bath. The funeral services were held there and the remains interred in the cemetery in connection with the home. He was about 69 years of age and had been ill for a long time with Bright's disease. For many years he was a resident of the city. He is survived by three brothers, Nathaniel T. Mabee of this city, George of Elmira, and Jacob of Alpine.10

Mabee on 21 March 1915 at Elmira, New York; George Mabee employed as a janitor at the Reid apartment on East Church street, fell from a third-story window, rear, Monday afternoon about 4:30 o'clock and received injuries that caused his death while being removed to St. Joseph's hospital in the police motor ambulance. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at the Campbell undertaking parlors. The Rev. A. C. Cornwall officiated. Burial was in the Big Flats cemetery. Mr. Mabee is survived by one son. Ralph Mabee, of this city, and one brother, Jacob Mabee, of Alpine.11

He is Survived by three sons, E. J. Mabee, Candor; C. T. Mabee, Candor, and C. S . Mabee, Ithaca, N, Y. Funeral services will be held from the home of C. S . Mabee, on the Danby road, at 11 a. m. Monday. The Rev. B. F . Tobey of Danby will officiate. Interment will be in King's Cemetery.9

In pursuance of a judgment of foreclosure and sale made and entered in the above entitled action, bearing date the 13th day of March, 1903, I, the undersigned, the Referee in said judgment named, will sell at public auction at the front door of the County Clerk's Office in the City of Ithaca, New York, on the 29th day of April, 1903, at ten o'clock in the forenoon of that day, the following described premises.

He is Survived by three sons, E. J. Mabee, Candor; C. T. Mabee, Candor, and C. S . Mabee, Ithaca, N, Y. Funeral services will be held from the home of C. S . Mabee, on the Danby road, at 11 a. m. Monday. The Rev. B. F . Tobey of Danby will officiate. Interment will be in King's Cemetery.11
