Mabie, age 81, a lifelong resident of Hackettstown, the only child of Agnes and Robert Mabie and step-father Charles "Whitey" Smithling, passed away on Friday March 22 at his home after a lengthy and courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
He was predeceased by the loves of his life his adoring wife Ethel "Toni" "Goots" Mabie and his son George "Rocky" Robbins.
He is survived by three cousins Linda (Edward) Chermark, Dennis (Kathleen) Dinallo and Jerry (Lucille) Dinallo.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy in the 1950's, he was the owner of Whitey's Ice Cream Distributors of Springfield NJ and later of Branchburg, NJ. He also served as a Patrolman for the Hackettstown Police Department in the late 1960's. He was of the Roman Catholic faith, a member of the Knights of Columbus, The American Legion and the Hackettstown Moose. Affectionately known to many by his nicknames "Casey" and "Tex", Bob was a generous man, a great conversationalist and an avid sports fan. He loved his N.Y. Yankees and college basketball- especially Rutgers. He was quick to make friends and loyalty was his calling card. He will be missed by everyone who knew him, enjoyed his company, laughed with him and cried with him.
A celebration of his life will be held at The Cochran Funeral Home, 905 High Street, Hackettstown, NJ on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Hackettstown Union Cemetery, Hackettstown.7

He was also a member of the South Otselic Fire Police and remained active with them for several years. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Blasko, and two brothers, Edward and Charles Mabie.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet Jeffer Mabie of South Otselic; and two sons, George V. (Jan) Mabie Jr. of Englewood, Fla. and Charles H. (Charlene) Mabie of Ramsey, N.J. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Black Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., where members of the Elks Lodge 122 will conduct a prayer service at 8 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Jeanne Angell officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to the South Otselic Fire Police, c/o South Otselic Fire Department, South Otselic, NY 13155.7

Burial will be in North Elba cemetery, Lake Placid.. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Marion Webb Mabee; a brother, Clifford, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Quackenbush. both of Warwick. Mr. Mabee was born in Florida, N. Y., Feb. 18, 1897, a son of Israel and Emiline Johnson Mabee. He was, a retired carpenter and had lived at Lake Kiwassa two years.10
