Anecdote*19 March 1997 From the Punta Gorda Herald, March 19, 1997. "Punta Gorda woman rediscovers lost art. De Brenner brings back the art of sugar eggs. Her workshop isn't anything out of the ordinary. a small studio unit that breathes the sounds of Punta Gorda and the light winds that blow in from the shade tree outside. A comfortable looking couch with soft designs sits below walls filled with craftwork, photographs and plaques building memories. A deeper survey however, reveals this living room is not what it appears to be." The article goes on to tell about the ceramic supplies and a table of decorated eggs. A former assistant to the owner of a heart valve company, Brenner, says she has always enjoyed beautiful things. Following her retirement she took a strong interest in creating them. "I love to touch fine crystal," Brenner said. "I loved growing roses in Minnesota." Now she loves to make things. She paints ceramic figures, sews dresses for dolls and creates flowers for sugar eggs. Brenner can use many of her talents to create sugar eggs. But there is an overriding issue tht leads her to create them. They are a lost art that once played a special role in the celebration of Easter."7

In the early ‘60's he joined the Navy Reserve. His stories most often filled with humor and described by a reviewer as Wild West prose, made local history lively and entertaining in the magazine "Fairhaven, the Gazette of South Bellingham" published by his wife. His recently published journal, "Bullcook, Life in the Bunkhouse", follows stories collected while working at Carnation Farms. Fairhaven history lived for Ty and in turn he made Fairhavenites proud of its heritage in articles, plaques and in blocks set at important sites along Fairhaven streets and trails. He visited his friend and mentor, historian Galen Biery, weekly for years as they exchanged stories about their century old ‘acquaintances'. Ty led history tours through Fairhaven and gave slide shows and talks to groups, including recent Southside ‘Story Nights". He was a board member and President of the Old Fairhaven Association. Issue 54 August 5 2002 Memorials which will apply toward costs of hardcover binding his research can be made to the Tyrone Tillson Fairhaven History Project at Key Bank."5

oObit*1 April 2016  On 1 April 2016 at Garden City, New York, the obituary of Helen Clara Maybee read: Helen Clara (Maybee) Randi gracefully passed on March 23 at her home on Grannis Brook Farm in Canton, N.Y. She was surrounded by her family while holding hands with her beloved husband of 67 years, Dr. Joseph A. Randi.
Helen was born in Canton, N.Y. to Margaret and Nelson Maybee in 1927. After graduating Canton High School at 17 she came to Adelphi University where she earned her degree in Nursing. It was at Adelphi where she met and fell in love with Joseph Randi. They married in 1948. After her husband graduated from Columbia Dental School they returned to the town they fell in love with while at Adelphi. It is here in Garden City where they would live for the next 38 years and raise their five children.
Helen was a very active member of the Garden City community. PTA, cub scouts, Twigs, were just a few of the organizations that she participated in while raising her busy family. She also helped with her husband's dental practice running the front office.
After her children were grown Helen fell in love with the game of golf. It was at Cherry Valley Country Club where she would enjoy the game and meet the friends she would have for life. When she was not golfing she loved needle pointing, knitting, beading, gardening and traveling.
In 1960 Helen and Joe bought the Grannis Brook farm in Canton, NY. It was here where the Randi family would enjoy all their holidays. Helen loved every inch of her farm. She filled her home with beautiful antiques and furniture made by her husband. She filled her gardens with spectacular flowers and vegetables. She loved exploring the woods on skis, in canoes, and on foot. For years Helen would welcome many friends and family to the farm where many happy memories were made.
The Randi's left Garden City in 1992 when Dr. Randi retired from dentistry. They would spend the winter months in Venice, Florida and would return to the farm spring through fall.
Nothing made Helen more happy than when she was surrounded by her family. She was a dedicated, supportive, and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family always felt her love and will miss her forever.

Death*30 September 2020 Marion Isabelle Smith died on 30 September 2020 at Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada, at age 95.1
oObit*October 2020  In October 2020 at Ballard Minor Funeral Home, Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada, the obituary of Marion Isabelle Smith read: After a brief illness, Marion passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Predeceased by her husband Mitchell (2015); her parents, Dewey and Elizabeth (Gloyd); and her siblings, Helen, Betty, Myrl and Lloyd. Marion will be deeply missed by nieces Jane Paisley-Canning (George), Judy Paisley (Richard), Cyndee Case (Dave), great niece and nephew Paisley Canning and Robert Canning, nephews Wayne, Rick, Bill and Geoff Smith and many dear friends.
Born in Dunnville, Marion lived a long and happy life. She married Mitchell Brown Tait, a Kiwi soldier, in 1951. During WWII, Mitch served with the 25th Battalion of the New Zealand Expeditionary Forces until he was wounded by a land mine explosion in Italy. After returning from WWII, Mitch opened a photography business that flourished until his retirement. With a husband, brother, great nephew, and uncle who served in the armed forces, Marion supported efforts to recognize the tremendous contributions that veterans make to the lives of all Canadians. Although a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis added to Mitchell's health challenges, Marion and Mitch enjoyed 64 happy years together. Through it all, Marion was Mitch's staunch advocate and caregiver – she continued to provide daily care for him until his death in 2015. Marion made many wonderful friends among the people who shared in Mitch's care over the years.
With a keen mind for details, Marion had a long and successful career in administrative positions. She started her career with the Royal Bank in Dunnville, then worked for Molly Hedrick's Insurance Agency for many, many years. She eventually retired from Duliban Insurance so she could spend more time with her many hobbies and with Mitch.
Marion cherished her family and was very close to her sister Betty. Wherever Betty went, Marion was right beside her – whether it was a quick shopping trip, a card party, or celebrating a family event. The weekly card parties organized by Marion, Betty, sister-in-law Gloria Smith, and friend Glenda Toll were marked by raucous laughter; although things got serious when it came to keeping score – after all, there were penny bets involved.
Marion expressed her strong creative flair through many activities, including calligraphy, drawing, and wood carving. As an avid member of a local wood carving group she made both wonderful friends and beautiful works of art. Among her treasures are many species of ducks, ravens, raptors, kiwis (of course), bears, shorebirds and others. She readily shared her love of carving with others and carved daily until very recently.
Marion was a gifted genealogist and very proud to be a Mayflower descendant, United Empire Loyalist, and a Daughter of the American Revolution. Marion loved chatting about her genealogy discoveries and with her extensive knowledge of family ancestries, she could usually figure out the common connections that unite so many of us. She avidly encouraged others to learn more about their family histories and helped many people get started on their own paths to discovery. Accompanied by niece Cyndee (her ‘Mayflower girl'), Marion made several trips to Plymouth Massachusetts to celebrate her Mayflower heritage. She treasured the family members and friends she discovered through her genealogical research.2
Burial10 October 2020 She was buried on 10 October 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ontario, Canada.1
