Anecdote* George Mabee had a large cottage at Marshall's Bay on the Ottawa River, near Arnprior. He severed a small lot and Clara [Bingleman] built a cottage there in 1938. After Uncle George died Walter Turnbull purchased the large cottage, and later sold it to Leila and Bruce Green, Leila being a niece to Aunt Clara..
Clara was the daughter of George's half sister Lydia Stuart, and when she was eighteen Uncle George, who was a professor at a university in Ottawa, had her come live with them so she could take a secretarial course. She got a job in the parliament buildings and after a time became the private secretary to Walter Turnbull. Walter at one time was private secretary to Prime Minister McKenzie King, and later became Deputy Postmaster General of Canada, and Aunt Clara remained his private secretary.4
Death*31 March 2008 Clara Emma Bingleman died on 31 March 2008 at Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada, at age 108.4
