He was born October 29, 1910, at Chichester, the son of Herman and Ella Schmiedel. He married Anita Mabie on November 19, 1934, at Worcester. He had been employed by the Farmers' Feed Company for over 30 years, for the past 19 years in Worcester, moving there from Schenevus. He was a member of the Worcester Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Madl, Jr., of Cobleskill and Mrs. Bradley Ingraham of Warnerville; three sons, Robert of East Worcester, Thomas of Toms River, N. J., and Lynn, at home; nine grandchildren; one brother, Raymond of Schenevus; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, October 8, from the Skinner Funeral Home in Worcester, with the Rev. Larry H. Saxe, pastor of the Worcester Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.6 |

Mabie, 77, of Worcester, a former resident of Schenectady, died unexpectedly at her home Saturday. Mrs. Mabie, a native of Roseboom, had lived in Schenectady several years before moving to Worcester about a year ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Worcester. Survivors include her husband, Arba Mabie; seven sons, Gifford, and Earl Mabie of Altamont, Robert Mabie of Wappinger Falls, Gerald Mabie of Garden Grove, Calif., William Mabie, U.S. Army, Columbus, Ohio, Donald Mabie of Manlius and DeForest Mabie of Worcester; five daughters, Ruth L. Mabie of Albany, Mrs. Herman Schmiedel of Worcester, Mrs. Elwyn Hoke of Highland, Mrs. John McCardle of Schenectady and Mrs. James Coon of Carlisle. Thirty-five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m.-Wednesday at the Skinner Funeral Home, Worcester. The Rev. Fred Rivenburg, pastor of the United Methodist Church, Schenevus, will officiate. Burial will be m Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester.5 |

He served his country honorably, dedicating 25 years of service in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as MSGT He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who is dearly missed. William was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and five brothers. He is survived by his daughter and her husband; son and his wife; sister, Clara McCardle; brother, DeForest James Mabie; and five grandchildren. William was laid to rest on February 22, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, with full Air Force Honors.8 |

Born in Westford, NY on August 5, 1935 he was the youngest of 12 children born to Arba and Flora Kniffen Mabie. He was 79. Jack grew up in South Valley moving to Altamont, NY. In 1955 he was a graduate of Guilderland High School. He then enlisted with the United States Navy and served proudly for four years. Jack worked briefly for General Electric before going to work for Beech- Nut in Canajoharie as a machinist. He retired in 1999 after 28 years of service. He was of the Protestant faith and was a 10 year member of the Canajoharie Volunteer Fire Department. He was predeceased by his 11 siblings, Gifford, Ruth, Florence, Anita, Robert, Earl, Clara, Gerald, William, Betty and Donald. Survivors include his best friend and wife, Aileen Fredericks Hayman Mabie; two step daughters, Dawn Hayman of Clinton, NY and Janice Hayman of Mohegan Lake, NY; two sisters in law, Gloria "Debbie" Mabie of Syracuse, NY and Marietta Mabie of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Service of Remembrance will take place on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 1 o'clock at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Private burial with military honors will take place in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Frank Madl, Jr., of Cobleskill and Mrs. Bradley Ingraham of Warnerville; three sons, Robert of East Worcester, Thomas of Toms River, N. J., and Lynn, at home; nine grandchildren; one brother, Raymond of Schenevus; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Tuesday, October 8, from the Skinner Funeral Home in Worcester, with the Rev. Larry H. Saxe, pastor of the Worcester Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.3 |
