Mabie died at his home Tuesday evening at about 8:30 o'clock after an illness of a few weeks. Death was due to an abscess. Mr. Mabie was born in Albany County 64 years ago and came to this town with his parents when 10 years old. Thirty-three years ago he was united in marriage to Emma Finch, who survives, with one brother. Clarence Mabie of Westdale. and one sister. Mrs. Theresa Park of Rockford. Ill. Deceased was a highly respected member of the Presbyterian Church.13 |

oObit* | 20 July 1918 | On 20 July 1918 at Rome, Oneida County, New York, the obituary of Clarence Gilbert Mabie read: Camden, July 20.—Clarence G. Mabie, a well known farmer of this village died last evening at his home on the Mexico Road. He had been in failing health for some time but had been confined to his bed for only 10 days. Death was due to a complication of diseases. Mr. Mabie had a host of friends In this village who will mourn his passing. Clarence Q. Mabie was born June 10. 1858 at South Westerlo, Albany county, a son of Stephen G. and Phoebe Mabie. He came to Camden at the age of four with his parents and received his education in the schools of the village. He was married 43 years ago last March to Miss Cora Palms and for 30 years following his marriage, he made his home at Westdale. At this place, he served two terms as justice of the peace. Five years ago, he moved to Hillsboro where he lived one year, coming to reside four years ago with his daughter, Mrs. Bert Hague on the Mexico road in this village, where his death occurred. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer but for several years had been employed in the fall at the L. P. Haviland Canning Factory. Besides his wife, he is survived by, the daughter mentioned - and five grandchildren, a brother. Theron of Montpelier, Ia, and a sister Mrs J H Park of Rockford, Ill.2 |

oObit* | 30 January 1931 | On 30 January 1931 at Randolph, Cattaraugus County, New York, the obituary of Abram Maybee read: Abram Maybee, 81 years old, negro veteran of the Civil War, died at his home in Elhcottvllle Saturday morning after a short illness. Mr Maybee had been in falling health some time, but was able to be out until Tuesday. He was born in Canajoharie, Montgomery County, July 4, 1839, and cams to this vicinity when he was about 11 years old, with Lewis Colt, prominent farmer here. Maybee's parents were not slaves. Later he conducted a barber shop for 50 years. At one time he lived in the oil country. He was twice married. His first wife was buried here, his second at Oil City, Pa, Mr, Maybee entered military service in 1861 a servant to Capt. William Johnson Clark. Later he served as a mule driver. When authority was given for the enlistment of negro troops, Maybee returned to Elllicottvtlle and enlisted in the 20th New York Infantry. He served with Company A as a sergeant from February 12, 1964, until his discharge, Once he was hit on the head with a musket. Following the war he was at Gettysburg when Abraham Lincoln made his famous address at the dedication there, and said he stood within 30 feet of the President.18 |

oObit* | 18 September 1913 | On 18 September 1913 at Simcoe, Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada, the obituary of William Pickney Mabee read: The death occurred on Monday, Sept. 8th, at his home in Houghton, near Guysboro, after an illness of eight weeks, of Mr. W. P. Mabee, one of the pioneers of the district. Mr. Mabee, who was in his 84th year, was born in Middlesex, near Guysboro, and resided there until he grew to manhood, when he purchased the homestead on which he had lived continuously over 56 years and on which he died. He was widely known in the community and highly respected, possessing many friends. His wife predeceased him thirteen years. The children who survive him are: Mrs.[Elizabeth] James McBride of Tillsonburg; Mrs. [Margaret]Lewis Woolley and Mrs.[Minerva] Geo. Corlas of Avon; Mrs. [Lillie] Chas. Atkinson of Dereham near Tillsonburg; James of Guysboro; Aquilla and William of Langton; Thomas of Straffordville; and Clarence, who lives on the homestead. The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon of last week and was attended by many relatives and friends. Interment was made at the Guysboro cemetery.3 |
