Died in Constantine, Wednesday, Nov. 1, 1882, of typhoid fever after an illness of two weeks, Mr. Isaac D. Smith. The deceased was born in Charlotteville, Canada, December 1, 1828. At the age of 29 he heard the call of the Great Master, and accepted the divine invitation of mercy, and soon after became a member of the Baptist church at Forrestville, Canada. In 1866, he moved to Plainwell, Michigan, where he lived ten or eleven years; then he with his family found a home four years at Falesburg, Illinois, from which place he removed to Constantine one year ago last May, where as a artist he was so well and favorably known.
Mr. Smith was first married to Miss Abigail Mabee in 1852, who died in 1857, leaving three little ones alone to the father's care. In 1858, Miss Sarah Johnson, his now bereaved companion undertook the delicate responsibility of sharing that care. but now after more than twenty-four years are gone, the loyed father is taken, leaving four other children to mingle their tears and grief with the other surviving friends.
The funeral service are to be held at the residence at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon.3 
Burial He was buried at Constantine Township Cemetery, Constantine, Saint Joseph County, Michigan.8

The Late Mrs. (Dr.) Phelan Mrs. (Dr.) Phelan died quite unexpectedly at her home in Walsingham Centre on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 22nd, and was buried on Tuesday afternoon following. Her life since 1867 was spent in Walsingham Centre, where she made a great many friends. She was born in England and came to Port Rowan when a child with her father, the late John Leaton, Esq. After her marriage Port Rowan remained her home until her removal to Walsingham Centre. One sister, Mrs. S. P. Mabee, of Port Rowan, survives her. All of her living children, Christopher of Sault Ste. Marie; John of Port Arthur; Miss Susan Phelan and Miss Mattie Phelan were able to get home for the funeral.9
