(Witness) oObit18 September 1913 Elizabeth Mabee was mentioned in the obituary of William Pickney Mabee on 18 September 1913 at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada; The death occurred on Monday, Sept. 8th, at his home in Houghton, near Guysboro, after an illness of eight weeks, of Mr. W. P. Mabee, one of the pioneers of the district.
Mr. Mabee, who was in his 84th year, was born in Middlesex, near Guysboro, and resided there until he grew to manhood, when he purchased the homestead on which he had lived continuously over 56 years and on which he died. He was widely known in the community and highly respected, possessing many friends. His wife predeceased him thirteen years.
The children who survive him are: Mrs.[Elizabeth] James McBride of Tillsonburg; Mrs. [Margaret]Lewis Woolley and Mrs.[Minerva] Geo. Corlas of Avon; Mrs. [Lillie] Chas. Atkinson of Dereham near Tillsonburg; James of Guysboro; Aquilla and William of Langton; Thomas of Straffordville; and Clarence, who lives on the homestead.
The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon of last week and was attended by many relatives and friends. Interment was made at the Guysboro cemetery.7

(Witness) oObit22 April 1954 He was mentioned in the obituary of Minerva Mabee on 22 April 1954 at Ingersoll, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada; Mrs. George Bradford Corless died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert McBeth, 199 Whiting St., Monday morning. She was in her 87th year. Mrs. Corless had been in failing health for a number of years and seriously ill for the past 10 weeks. The former Mary Mabee, she was born in Houghton [township], and had lived in the Aylmer district until coming to Ingersoll last January. Mrs. Corless was a member of the Aylmer United Church, and an active member of the Women's Institute and Ladies Aid of that church. Her husband predeceased her in 1917. Surviving are one son, Dell J. Corless, Flint, Michigan; five daughters, Mrs. George McQuiggan [Fern], Toronto; Mrs. Albert McBeth [Maggie], Ingersoll; Mrs. Karl Rindlehardt [Gladys], Detroit; Mrs. Ervin Roy [Norma], Lincoln Park, Michigan; Mrs. Roy Brittin [Edna], Windsor; one brother, James Mabee , Straffordville, 26 grandchildren and 39 great-gran! dchildren. The funeral was held from the Walker Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Frank Swackhammer, of Temple Baptist Church, Toronto, officiated and interment was at the Dorchester Union Cemetery. (Witness) oObit18 September 1913 Lillie Louise Mabee was mentioned in the obituary of William Pickney Mabee on 18 September 1913 at Simcoe, Ontario, Canada; The death occurred on Monday, Sept. 8th, at his home in Houghton, near Guysboro, after an illness of eight weeks, of Mr. W. P. Mabee, one of the pioneers of the district.
Mr. Mabee, who was in his 84th year, was born in Middlesex, near Guysboro, and resided there until he grew to manhood, when he purchased the homestead on which he had lived continuously over 56 years and on which he died. He was widely known in the community and highly respected, possessing many friends. His wife predeceased him thirteen years.
The children who survive him are: Mrs.[Elizabeth] James McBride of Tillsonburg; Mrs. [Margaret]Lewis Woolley and Mrs.[Minerva] Geo. Corlas of Avon; Mrs. [Lillie] Chas. Atkinson of Dereham near Tillsonburg; James of Guysboro; Aquilla and William of Langton; Thomas of Straffordville; and Clarence, who lives on the homestead.
The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon of last week and was attended by many relatives and friends. Interment was made at the Guysboro cemetery.7

Mr. Mabee, who was in his 84th year, was born in Middlesex, near Guysboro, and resided there until he grew to manhood, when he purchased the homestead on which he had lived continuously over 56 years and on which he died. He was widely known in the community and highly respected, possessing many friends. His wife predeceased him thirteen years.
The children who survive him are: Mrs.[Elizabeth] James McBride of Tillsonburg; Mrs. [Margaret]Lewis Woolley and Mrs.[Minerva] Geo. Corlas of Avon; Mrs. [Lillie] Chas. Atkinson of Dereham near Tillsonburg; James of Guysboro; Aquilla and William of Langton; Thomas of Straffordville; and Clarence, who lives on the homestead.

oObit*22 April 1954  On 22 April 1954 at Ingersoll, Oxford County, Ontario, Canada, the obituary of Minerva Mabee read: Mrs. George Bradford Corless died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert McBeth, 199 Whiting St., Monday morning. She was in her 87th year. Mrs. Corless had been in failing health for a number of years and seriously ill for the past 10 weeks. The former Mary Mabee, she was born in Houghton [township], and had lived in the Aylmer district until coming to Ingersoll last January. Mrs. Corless was a member of the Aylmer United Church, and an active member of the Women's Institute and Ladies Aid of that church. Her husband predeceased her in 1917. Surviving are one son, Dell J. Corless, Flint, Michigan; five daughters, Mrs. George McQuiggan [Fern], Toronto; Mrs. Albert McBeth [Maggie], Ingersoll; Mrs. Karl Rindlehardt [Gladys], Detroit; Mrs. Ervin Roy [Norma], Lincoln Park, Michigan; Mrs. Roy Brittin [Edna], Windsor; one brother, James Mabee , Straffordville, 26 grandchildren and 39 great-gran! dchildren. The funeral was held from the Walker Funeral Home, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Frank Swackhammer, of Temple Baptist Church, Toronto, officiated and interment was at the Dorchester Union Cemetery. Casket bearers were: Donald McBeth, Max and Gerry McQuiggan, Walter and Ronald Rindlehardt and Grant Roy, all grandsons. The funeral was largely attended and there were numerous floral tributes.9

Wilden Ave., Goshen, who recently returned to Goshen after 12 years in Wisconsin, died at 4:30 a.m. today at Goshen General Hospital. He had been ill for some time with cancer. Mr. Mabie was a former employee of Western Rubber Co. And a member of the Goshen Moose Lodge. He was born Feb 2, 1912, in North Webster, to Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin (Eva Snoke) Mabie. On Nov 23, 1932, he married Mary Helen McDevitt, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Charles and Richard, both of Goshen, and James, Elkhart; 14 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, his mother, North Webster, and two brothers, Merl, Missouri, and Vernon, Syracuse. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, where services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Chester Reed will officiate. Burial will be in North Webster Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Elkhart County Cancer Society.5

oObit*11 April 2008  On 11 April 2008 at Elkhart, Indiana, the obituary of James Dean Mabie read: James Dean "Jim" Mabie, 72, of Elkhart and Bonita Springs, Fla., died Sunday (April 6, 2008) at his winter home in Bonita Springs. He was born May 30, 1935, to Verlin D. and Mary Helen (McDevitt) Mabie.
Mr. Mabie is survived by his wife of 471/2 years, F. June (Roose-Vantine) Mabie; two children, Ricky Dean (Becky) Mabie of Mishawaka and Penny Sue Mabie of Goshen; two stepchildren, Mitchell Dean (Lori) Vantine of Elkhart and Cynthia Kay Winske of Bonita Springs; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Charles B. (Marge) Mabie and Richard D. (Gloria) Mabie, both of Sebring, Fla.
Cremation will take place in Bonita Springs, with a memorial service at a later date in Elkhart. Walter Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, Bonita Springs, is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Mabie was an Elkhart city police officer for 251/2 years. He served as a motorcycle officer, training officer, assistant chief of police and chief of police from 1984 to 1986.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 52 and was past president of the Elkhart Evening Optimist Club.7
