Blanche would churn the butter by hand in the cellar where it was cooler. She then took it upstairs into the kitchen and used a paddle to shape it into blocks. She also would sell eggs, vegetables grown in the garden across the road. The gladiolas she would sell only to her best customers. She also made home made ice cream from the rich milk the cows gave. Some of the flavors remembered were: Vanilla, Peach and the fourth of July speciality: Tutti-frutti. Phyllis B.
