Mr. Mabee served with the Merchant Marines from 1941 to 1955, was a member of the American Merchant Marine Veterans and formerly served as President, and was an active member of Greenwood Lake American Legion Arthur Finnegan Post. He was the Superintendent of Highways with the Village of Greenwood Lake, was a volunteer fireman and life member of Greenwood Lake Fire Department, having served as past Chief, and was a member of the Greenwood Lake Fire Department Bowling League.
A family statement reads: "He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, was an avid fisherman and loved the sea. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Ernie, going fishing, hunting, and watching him play basketball, baseball and softball. He enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn, was a great boxing fan, and especially enjoyed time spent with family and friends."
He is survived by his daughter, Caryl Ann Tiedemann and her husband, John W. of Shohola, PA and a four legged grandson, Potter; a grandson, Ernest D. Mabee III of Greenwood Lake and his fiance, Krystle Paccione, and their two Labrador retrievers, Winnie and Remi; his sisters: Mary Mabee, Elizabeth (Libby) Mabee, and Wanda Pikul, all of Goshen. He was predeceased by a son, Ernest D. Mabee II; a sister, Gloria McCombs and a brother, Thomas V. Mabee.
Visitation will be on Sunday, February 26th, from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. at Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home, followed by interment in Warwick Cemetery.1

Mrs Shader thought her husband, who was out looking after the farm chores, had forgotten to turn on the drafts, and that the fire had burned out in the night, and she sought to rekindle it, causing the above tragedy.
The family physician, Dr Uptegrove of Vernon was summoned and on arrival he took her to Linn Hospital at Sussex, where death came about 5 o'clock.
Mrs Shader was Flossie P Mabee, daughter of John E Mabee and Margaret Predmore and was born at Pine Island, NY, August 24th, 1910. Survivors include his wife, Anna VanDermulen Mabee at home; two daughters, Margaret Benedict of Bellvale, and Dorothy Mabee of Warwick; two sons Preston Mabee and Raymond Mabee, both of Warwick; one brother John Mabee of Warwick; two sisters, Margaret Batz of Bellvale and Viola Feist of Sun Lakes City, Arizona; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by the Lazear-Smith Funeral Home, 17 Oakland Avenue, Warwick, where the services were
held. Burial was in Warwick Cemetery, Warwick.10

Raymond served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in Bellvale, NY. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and trapping. He spent countless hours tending his gardens. He also enjoyed playing rummy with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Warwick; two daughters: Michelle Mabee-Loughren and her husband, Gerry of Goshen, and Kim Blumenberg and her husband, Scott of Florida, NY; two grandchildren: Holly and Luke; two sisters: Margaret Benedict of Warwick, and Dorothy Mabee of Warwick; and a nephew, Shawn Mabee of Warwick. He was predeceased by a brother, Preston Mabee, Jr.
The family would like to say a special thank you to both the hospital staff at St. Anthony Community Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 25th, from 1 to 4 p.m. Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by a Funeral Service at 4 p.m.12

Born on July 24, 1936 in Warwick, he was the son of the late Preston S. and Anna (Vander Meulen) Mabee.
He was married for 46 years to Carol (Donald) Mabee.
Raymond served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong dairy farmer in Bellvale, NY. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and trapping. He spent countless hours tending his gardens. He also enjoyed playing rummy with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of Warwick; two daughters: Michelle Mabee-Loughren and her husband, Gerry of Goshen, and Kim Blumenberg and her husband, Scott of Florida, NY; two grandchildren: Holly and Luke; two sisters: Margaret Benedict of Warwick, and Dorothy Mabee of Warwick; and a nephew, Shawn Mabee of Warwick. He was predeceased by a brother, Preston Mabee, Jr.
The family would like to say a special thank you to both the hospital staff at St. Anthony Community Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 25th, from 1 to 4 p.m. Lazear-Smith & Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 17 Oakland Ave., Warwick, followed by a Funeral Service at 4 p.m.10

The family physician, Dr Uptegrove of Vernon was summoned and on arrival he took her to Linn Hospital at Sussex, where death came about 5 o'clock.
Mrs Shader was Flossie P Mabee, daughter of John E Mabee and Margaret Predmore and was born at Pine Island, NY, August 24th, 1910. Besides her husband and one infant son Frederick and her parents the deceased is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Margaret, wife of Fred Batz, and Stella, wife of Peter D Howell of Bellvale; Viola, wife of George Feist, and Helen, wife of Albert Leeper of New Milford; and brothers Preston of Wisner; Ernest of Sugar Loaf; and John of New Milford.5

Mrs Shader, it is reported, poured kerosene on the kindling in the kitchen stove, thinking that the fire was out, only to have the flames bite back at her to the can she was holding, which exploded, covering her with flaming liquid. Mrs Shader thought her husband, who was out looking after the farm chores, had forgotten to turn on the drafts, and that the fire had burned out in the night, and she sought to rekindle it, causing the above tragedy.
The family physician, Dr Uptegrove of Vernon was summoned and on arrival he took her to Linn Hospital at Sussex, where death came about 5 o'clock.
Mrs Shader was Flossie P Mabee, daughter of John E Mabee and Margaret Predmore and was born at Pine Island, NY, August 24th, 1910. Besides her husband and one infant son Frederick and her parents the deceased is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Margaret, wife of Fred Batz, and Stella, wife of Peter D Howell of Bellvale; Viola, wife of George Feist, and Helen, wife of Albert Leeper of New Milford; and brothers Preston of Wisner; Ernest of Sugar Loaf; and John of New Milford.4
