The funeral occurred Thursday from the home, Rev. G. C. Andrews officiating, the interment taking place in the neighborhood cemetery. Deceased was born August 15, 1837 in Dutchess county, New York. In 1855 he came to Wisconsin, but three years later went to Missouri. During the next ten years or more he was in Arizona, Nevada and finally back to Wisconsin in 1869. Five years later he came to Clark county which has since been his home. He was married this same year to Cerissa Preston, who with their three children, survives him. The children are Mrs. Geo. Drinkwine who lives near the home place Guy Mabie, now in Washington, and Aubra who lives at home. Besides these, deceased leaves three brothers and one sister.6 |

Born Sept. 5 1878 at Greenwood, Wisconsin. At the age of 21 he came to Granite Falls, WA. Five years later in 1904 he came to Wenatchee valley and homesteaded at Monitor. In 1907 he married Kitty Searles at Old Mission. Leon & Kitty made their home up Fairview Canyon until 1917 when they moved to Sunnyslope. In 1919 they returned to Monitor where he operated a fruit ranch and served as justice of the peace until 1943 when he retired and moved to Wenatchee. He was a member of the Boys and Girls of Yesteryear, and a 30-year member of the FOE 204, Wenatchee. He died Nov. 11, 1958 in a Spokane hospital following an extended illness.17 | |

Liz grew up in Monitor, WA, the youngest of eight Mabie children. She attended school in Monitor and Cashmere, WA, graduating from Cashmere High School in 1943. Liz worked for the Chelan County Library for several years and then moved to South Carolina to work for DuPont. There, she was married and her son, George, was born. In 1957, they moved back to Wenatchee and the mountains she loved. Liz retired from the North Central Regional Library after working 42 years. She really enjoyed seeing her grandchildren grow up, watching all the activities they took part in and the friends they made. She was very independent and enjoyed living at home and seeing her mountains. Liz is survived by her son, George and wife, Janet; daughter, Carol and husband, Andy Ahle; grandson, Chad Eidson and his wife, Emily; grandson, Joshua Eidson; grandson, Cory Ahle and wife, Chelsey; granddaughter, Amy and husband, Chase Inman; and great-grandson, Sam.10 |

He was a farmer He is survived by one son, John, of Los Angeles, Cal; one sister, Mrs Anna Shater, of Orange, NJ, two grandchildren, John and Fred Mabee; one great-grandchild, Louise Head, of Hamburg, NJ. The funeral was held on Friday, August 14, at the late home. Interment was in the North Hardyston Cemetery.9 |
