Prominent in milling circles throughout Ontario, also millwrighting, being with Wm. and J. G. Greey, Toronto for a few years he entered into partnership with Graham Mills, Eganville, Ont., on November last year. He leaves to mourn one brother, E.C. Maybee, Canadian General Electric, Peterborough, Ont; two sisters Mrs. Clarke Leslie, Mrs. James Fanning also of that city; his wife and four children, Mrs. Clifton Moreton, Norval, Ont., Edward of the staff of Norwich High School; Grace and Fred at home, and one grandson Herbert Moreton. The remains were brought from Ottawa to Eganville, Friday, where a service was held in the home. Interment was made in Port Hope Cemetery on Saturday March 19th. The pallbearers were six cousins of the deceased; Stanley Mill, John McElroy, Charlie Taylor, Fred Taylor, Fred Maybee, Lafontaine Maybee.6 |

W. Maybee of Eganville. Her passing marks the closing of a very active career not only in this part of the country but in Western Ontario. Born in Cobden August 14th 1878, she spent her early life here, where she was a devote member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, before she was married she was a graduate of the Ontario Business College, Belleville, and for many years was the telegraph operator in Cobden. In 1900 she was married. Of the immediate family surviving are Mrs. C.W. Moreton of Norval, Edward and Grace and Fred of Forrester's Mills, Ontario. Mrs. Maybee revealed in later life her literary talent and was fond of writing about her own Ottawa Valley, she was well informed regarding history of this district and her stories dealing with the early settlers of Cobden and the Muskrat Lake Navigation will be greatly missed. As an attestation to the regard in which she was held, the funeral at Cobden was well attended by her friends. She was the last survivor of one of the oldest families in Cobden and was held in high esteem by an extensive circle of friends. The service was conducted at the church and graveyard in Cobden by the Rev. G. Carryer of Eganville, The pall bearers were Mr. Alex Mills, Dr. J. A. Laframboise, Mr. Gordon Boland, Mr. Wm. Ephraim Wesley Bryon Maybee, beloved husband of Susanna Marshall. Mr. Maybee entered the Ottawa Civic Hospital on March 12th and succumbed after two operations for kidney trouble. Prominent in milling circles throughout Ontario, also millwrighting, being with Wm. and J. G. Greey, Toronto for a few years he entered into partnership with Graham Mills, Eganville, Ont., on November last year. He leaves to mourn one brother, E.C. Maybee, Canadian General Electric, Peterborough, Ont; two sisters Mrs. Clarke Leslie, Mrs. James Fanning also of that city; his wife and four children, Mrs. Clifton Moreton, Norval, Ont., Edward of the staff of Norwich High School; Grace and Fred at home, and one grandson Herbert Moreton. The remains were brought from Ottawa to Eganville, Friday, where a service was held in the home. Interment was made in Port Hope Cemetery on Saturday March 19th. W. Maybee of Eganville. Her passing marks the closing of a very active career not only in this part of the country but in Western Ontario. Born in Cobden August 14th 1878, she spent her early life here, where she was a devote member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, before she was married she was a graduate of the Ontario Business College, Belleville, and for many years was the telegraph operator in Cobden. In 1900 she was married. Of the immediate family surviving are Mrs. C.W. Moreton of Norval, Edward and Grace and Fred of Forrester's Mills, Ontario. Mrs. Maybee revealed in later life her literary talent and was fond of writing about her own Ottawa Valley, she was well informed regarding history of this district and her stories dealing with the early settlers of Cobden and the Muskrat Lake Navigation will be greatly missed. As an attestation to the regard in which she was held, the funeral at Cobden was well attended by her friends. She was the last survivor of one of the oldest families in Cobden and was held in high esteem by an extensive circle of friends. The service was conducted at the church and graveyard in Cobden by the Rev. G. Carryer of Eganville, The pall bearers were Mr. Alex Mills, Dr. J. A. Laframboise, Mr. Gordon Boland, Mr. Wm. Gibbs, Mr. Hugh Hill and Mr. Herb.8 |

Maybee died following a heart attack Tuesday afternoon at the Canadian General Electric plant where he was employed , he was 54. Mr. Maybee was perhaps best known as an official scorekeeper and public address announcer at softball games at Ashburnhouse Bowl. He was a part time sports writer for the Peterborough Examiner, covering chiefly softball and hockey for a number of years. Son of the late Ephraim and Susanna Marshall, he was born in Bryson Quebec and went to Peterborough a number of years ago. During the early twenties while living in Norval, he was pitcher for the Georgetown Baseball team which was managed by the late Peter Blackburn who also played on the team. He was employed at CGE for 21 years and before that was a schoolteacher. He was a member of CGE Social and Athletic club and a former executive member of Peterborough's Men's Softball. He was a member of the senior choir and the Holy Name Society of St. Peter's Cathedral. He leaves his wife Eleanor Grinsdale, a son Fred Jr. and a daughter Carol, both at home; a brother Edward of Wallaceburg and sisters Mrs. Clinton Moreton and Grace Maybe of Bala; and a nephew Herbert Moreton of Norval. Funeral service was from the Duffus Funeral Home to St. Peter's Cathedral for requiem mass on Friday morning.9 |
