(Mentioned) oObit | 29 October 1979 | Ralph Mabie was mentioned in the obituary of of Walter Sylvenus Mabie on 29 October 1979 at Battle Creek, Michigan; Coldwater - Services will be held Tuesday at Dutcher Funeral Home for Walter S Mabie, 56, of 94 Willow Lane, who was in a one-car accident Saturday afternoon in I-69. He was pronounced dead of a heart attack on arrival at Marshall Oaklawn Hospital. It was reported he was under a physician's care for a heart condition and that he had not died of injuries suffered in the accident. The autopsy report was not available this morning Mabie was born in Flint, Ind, and had been a Coldwater resident since 1941, coming from Indiana. He formerly was employed as a cook by area restaurants, and at the time of his death was employed by the Carriage Inn Convalescent Center. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Coldwater Moose Lodge, and the American Legion and VFW posts. His wife the former Ruby Howell died in 19774. Surviving are his parents, Mr and Mrs Ralph Mabie of Coldwater and sisters, Mrs Izora Combs of Coldwater and Mrs Klyta Smith of Mason.10 |

Mabie, 68, at 1:30 p.m. Monday at his home in Roswell, N. M. He had bee in failing health and had suffered severe paralytic strokes. Death was caused by a final attack. Mr. Mabie conducted an implement business in Independence, Ia., for a number of years. He left there about 20 years ago and later became associated with the Mabie-Lowrie Implement company at Roswell. He had been an occasional visitor to Waterloo. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Mabie; one son Milton Wheeler [sic], a commercial traveler; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Vandenburg, Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs Floyd Wheeler and Mrs. Frank Whittaker, both of Roswell; and two brothers-in-law, W.
