Roszell, pastor of the First M. E. Church, officiated. A large number of friends the a n d relatives attended. There was a profusion of beautiful flowers. Burial was made in Fleming. The bearers were Scott Bowen, Edward Snyder, Sidney Smith, James Weir, Edward Robinson and Mr. Laminough. Those present from ont of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Barker of Genoa, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Wooley of Mapleton. Mr. and Mrs. Simon Ketcbam of Moravia. Mrs. W. A. Wood of Moravia. Charles Hall of Groton. Mr. and Mrs. C. Nilson of Syracuse and George Marks and Sidney Smith of Seneca Falls. Mrs. Mabey and daughter, Mrs. Robert Holcomb. greatly appreciate the sympathy which their many friends extended them. They alsowish to thank those who sent flowers.3 |

(Witness) Anecdote | 1897 | Joseph Kline, a well-known resident of Pawling, Dutchess county, engaged in the livery business, has also been for some time in the employ of the United States Government as mail clerk on the Harlem railroad. He learned the carriage maker's trade in early life, but did not follow it long as a business. He and his wife, formerly Miss Carrie Mabie, have three children: Anna A., Mary E. and Agnes J., who are all at home. Mrs. Kline was born and reared in the town of Dover, Dutchess county, and is a descendant of early settlers in Patterson, Putnam county, where her grandfather, Samuel Mabie, first saw the light. His education was acquired in the common schools there, and he engaged in farming in early manhood. He was united in matrimony with Miss Polly Bolts, and had six children, of whom Hiram, Mrs. Kline's father, was the eldest. William married Laura Dykeman; Phoebe married Nathan Dykeman; Ruth was the wife of James Dykeman; Adaline married J.B. Swan; and Sarah died at an early age. Hiram Mabie was born in 1823, in Towners, Putnam county, and after obtaining a common-school education there followed agricultural pursuits. He married Miss Julia Pagsley, daughter of Benjamin Pagsley, a leading butcher of Patterson, and his wife, Polly Crosby. Mrs. Kline was the fourth in a family of five children. Of the others, (1) Mary E. has never married. (2) Washington was educated in the town of Dover, Dutchess county, and is now engaged in farming. He married Miss Jennie Fowler and had three children—Estelle, Gertrude and Clarence. (3) Estelle was born and reared in the town of Dover, and she is now the wife of John Haynes, an agriculturist of the town of Pawling. They have two children—Fred and Ruth. (5) Florence, Mrs. Kline's youngest sister, married John Merrick, a resident of Towners, and has no children.4 |

Hughson, of Carmel, died Friday, July 22, 1938, at the Highland Hospital in Beacon. She was stricken suddenly with a heart ailment and lived only four days. She was born at the historic family homestead at Tilly Foster, the daughter of the late Elijah F. and Susan Hall Fowler, and was seventy-five years old. . . . On January 26, 1887, she married Washington P. Mabie and for forty two years they resided at Pawling. Nine years ago they moved to Fishkill village where they have since resided. Mrs. Mabie was a member of the Fishkill Methodist church and in her younger days she attended Drew seminary in Carmel. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. William H. Baker, of Southeast, and Mrs. Harry J. Muntz, of Bellmore, L. I; one son, Clarence, of Chappaqua; and one sister, Mrs. Fannie B. Hughson, of Carmel. Eleven grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held at her late home at Fishkill and burial.7 |

He was a retired farmer and a former Justice of the Peace. He was born in Doanesburg, Oct. 26, 1877, a son of the late Eli R. and Aurelia Howes Baker and resided there all his life. Mr. Baker was graduated from the Eastman National Business College in Hackensack, N.J. In addition, to farming and serving as a justice of peace, he was a member of the board of directors of Milltown Rural Cemetery, charter member of the Brewster Grange. He was also an elder and former treasurer of the Old Southeast Presbyterian Church and a member of the Croton Lodge, F&A.M. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Mabie Baker; two daughters, Misses Marion and Mildred Baker of Doanesburg. and several cousins. The funeral was held Saturday, at 2:30 p.m. in the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Terrace. The Rev. Cameron Allan, minister of the Brewster Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in Milltown Rural Cemetery.9 |

He was a retired farmer and a former Justice of the Peace. He was born in Doanesburg, Oct. 26, 1877, a son of the late Eli R. and Aurelia Howes Baker and resided there all his life. Mr. Baker was graduated from the Eastman National Business College in Hackensack, N.J. In addition, to farming and serving as a justice of peace, he was a member of the board of directors of Milltown Rural Cemetery, charter member of the Brewster Grange. He was also an elder and former treasurer of the Old Southeast Presbyterian Church and a member of the Croton Lodge, F&A.M. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gertrude Mabie Baker; two daughters, Misses Marion and Mildred Baker of Doanesburg. and several cousins. The funeral was held Saturday, at 2:30 p.m. in the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Terrace. The Rev. Cameron Allan, minister of the Brewster Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in Milltown Rural Cemetery.5 |

He had not been feeling well for the past week but had not been confined to his bed. He was born in Vermont, a son of the late Thaddeus Harrington and has lived in Rhinecliff for nearly fifty years. He was a painter by trade. At one time he was employed on the New York and Albany Day Line. Surviving are his wife, who before their marriage was Miss Margaret Maybee of Rhinecliff, two sons, George of Poughkeepsie and Elmor of Rhinecliff and a daughter, Mrs Barzelle Cole of Red Hook. Four grandchildren also survive. Mr. Harrington was a prominent Democrat and for years has been an active worker for his party in Rhinecliff and a member of the election board. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock a t his late home, with the Rev. Mr. Piper, pastor of the Rhinecliff Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Rhinebeck cemetery.4 |

Washington Mabie, Rhinecliff, who celebrated his 100th birthday anniversary November 20, 1962, died Wednesday night in Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He entered the hospital last Thursday after suffering a fall at his home. Mr. Mabie was born in the town of Rhinebeck, Nov. 20, 1862 at Flat Rock. The Mabie family lived in a stone house located at the intersection of what is now Route 308 and the River Road, leading into Ankony Farms. He attended the Flat Rock School which was the only school in that part of town, until the Rhinecliff School was built in 1878. At an early age his family moved to Hutton Farm, now occupied by the Riverside Farms. He went to work as a boy on The Hutton Farm. Later he was employed by Robert Suckley as dairyman, and he also worked on the Levi P. Morton Estate in various capacities. In 1910 he went into the trucking business which continued until 1940 when he retired. He had lived in his present home since 1876. which is also occupied by his nephew Elmer F. Harrington. He was a member of Rhinebeck Methodist Church for 79 years. Surviving, besides Mr. Harrington, are two other nephews. George Harrington of Rhinecliff and Jacob Mabie of Poughkeesie, and three nieces, M rs. Barzelle Cole of Red Hook, Mrs. Dena Mabie and Mrs. Edna Creighton, both of Poughkeepsie, and several cousins. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock at the Dapson Funeral Home, 65 W. Market street, Rhinebeck. The Rev. Robert Hankins. pastor of the Methodist parish, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening.5 |

Mr. Harrington was a past member of the Masonic Lodge of Rhinebeck #423 F&AM, past member of Rhinebeck Fire Co., Dutchess Volunteer Fire Assoc., a member of the Alumni Central Schools and Dutchess County Mandate Assoc, and a past member of the Garrettson United Methodist Church. Born in Rhinebeck on May 25,1895 to the late Frederick and Margaret (former Margaret Maybie) Harrington, he married Marquerite Proale. She passed away in 1973. Survivors include one son, Frederick Harrington of Sarasota, FL; a daughter, Ruth Pelosi of North Miami, FL; one brother, Elmer Harrington of Rhinecliff; seven grandchildren; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.4 |

Richards performed the ceremony, in the presence of a large number of guests. Rodney D. Hall acted as best man and the ushers were Frank Summerville, Worthington Graves, Edgar Hills and James Stafrum of Milwaukee. The bride was attended by Miss Annie Powell as maid of honor, who wore a gown of pink and carried pink and white sweet peas. The bridesmaids were Miss Cecelia Plummer and Miss Alice Potter. They were prettily gowned in embroidered batiste, trimmed with lace and carried bouquets of pink sweet peas. Mrs. Mabie wore a black lace costume, with silver applique and the bridegroom's mother wore a gown of black crepe de chine. A small reception followed at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer M. Mabie, in Elmwood avenue. White and green were the decorations used at the bride's table, which was laid with fourteen covers. Mr. and Mrs. Ballin will be at home after August 1st at No. 188 West Utica street. The out-of-town guests were Mrs. John Ormsbee of Utica. George B. Holloway of Detroit, Webster B. Mabie of New York and Mrs. Henry Voman of New Jersey."3 |
