She is survived by her daughters, Roma Jeanne Blair and Vicki (Paul) Morley; grandsons, Scott (Louann) Morley, Kenneth (Audra) Morley and David (Kristi) Blair; great grandchildren, Slade and Seth Morley, Tera and Hunter Blair. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth I. Hittle, two sisters and two brothers. Roma was a 54 year member of First Community Church, where she was active as a member for two terms on Service Board; membership committee and chair; trading post worker, Guild Group M and chair and Couples Circle. She was also a member of PEO Sisterhood; Cambridge CCL; Norwester Mother's Club; Alpha Zeta Delta Mother's Club and Damien Sektion, Columbus Maennerchor. A Celebration of Life service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 24, 2003 at First Community Church Main Sanctuary, 1320 Cambridge Blvd., where family will receive friends at a reception in Brownlee Hall immediately following the service. Dr. Richard Wing officiating. Graveside Service 12 Noon Saturday (Central Time) at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Community Church Foundation, 1320 Cambridge Bvld., Columbus, OH 43212, in Roma's name. Rev Albert Kalkbrenner will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Traverse City. She was born October 21, 1881, in Tillsonburg, Ontario, Canada. She married Angus G Grayson in 1898 at Central Lake and then came to Pellston in 1903 where Mr Grayson founded the "Pellston Journal". He died in 1928. Mrs Grayson was postmistress in Pelleston from 1928 until 1935. She was a charter member of the Pellston OES No. 123 and worth matron from 1919 until 1922 and from 1923 until 1935. Also Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of Michigan OES in 1930 and 1931 and president of Meguzee Association of OES in 1926 and 26. She was a member of the Petosky Presbyterian Church. In 1935 she married Jesse L Gates and he preceded her in death in 1951. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs Leotta G Sanborn; two granddaughters; three step daughters, Mrs Henry (Evelyn) Anderson, of Stanton, Mrs John (Alice) Drum, of Battle Creek and Mrs John (Zola) Collins, of Grand Rapids and three stepsons, George and Russell Gates of Stanton and Charles Gates of Boyne Falls. The body is at the Stone Funeral Home where friends may call.5 |
