The Marion County coroner's office said the man left s letter in which he said he was suffering from an incurable disease.
Mr. Mabee came to Salem in 1952 and was employed as a proofreader at the Statesman several years.
Surviving are his widow, Sarah.7

Shaw Memorial Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements with Mass at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Adelaide's Catholic Church and interment in Montecito Memorial Park.3
