Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 7th. Hugh was a loving husband, father and friend. He was married to Marjorie for 57 years an is survived by his sons Douglas and Bruce. As an extremely well respected Vancouver businessman, Hugh was closely associated with the Vancouver Board of Trade. Fo many years he acted as Chairman for a number of committees and as a genial host for the popular Board Monday luncheons. For these and other services he was awarded an honorary lifetime membership upon his business retirement. He also served as President of the Vancouver Sales and Marketing Executives. Hugh and Marjorie enjoyed travel and visited many countries around the world on numerous occasions. Hugh had a passion for woodworking and his home workshop was not only the envy of, but more importantly, a consent gathering place for his many friends in the community. Nothing gave him greater pleasure than being able to see and occasionally assist others in completing their many and varied projects. Hugh's contributions to society and the community are many but one of his proudest achievements was his work with Operation Eyesight Universal. It is because his untiring efforts on their behalf that many people in poorer countries can see well today. Although not well known, Hugh was also an accomplished musician and prior to moving to Canada had been a percussionist with a symphony ocharstra and a drummer with one of the leaders of what was to become a well known big band of his era. Fortunately for those who knew, Hugh will not just be sadly missed, but also fondly remembered by everyone he touched. No service by family request. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the West Vancouver S.P.C.A. would be appreciated.12
