Neb., Jan 14 – Funeral services for Henry DeWitt Mabie, 74, a prominent horseman, who in the early days shipped many horses from Iowa to Texas, were held in the home of his daughter, Mrs Louis Rahn, being conducted by Rev. Mr. Smith, of the Presbyterian church. Interment was made in Silver Ridge cemetery. Mr Mabie was born in Wisconsin in 1850 and after his marriage to Miss Laura Jane Eddy, located in Iowa. In 1893, his first wife having died, he came to Nebraska and was married to Mrs Ida Lawson at Craig in 1898. He is survived by three daughters; Mrs Fred Curry and Mrs Louis Rahn, both of Ponca, and Mrs Dwight A. Payne, of Waterloo, Ia; one son, Harry Mabie, of Stanton; and two step-children; Will Lawson of Ponca and Mrs Orville McCoun, of Brooklings, S. D.14 |
