Loving husband of Carmen, adored father of Jennifer (Bill) Tucker, Edward (Paula) Mabey, Nancy (Bill) Herrmann, John (Karen) Mabey, Kathleen O'Brien, and the late Michael Mabey and Betty Ann McLaughlin. John is also survived by many relatives, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame, John became a Special Agent of the FBI, a career of which he was very proud. He worked in the FBI's New York office, Washington D.C. field office and the San Francisco office, from which he retired in 1977. He enjoyed watching Notre Dame football and basketball, but above all he was a fiercely loyal Giants fan. Their World Series win in 2010 was special to him. John will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. Private services were held on Dec. 19, 2011. Donations in his memory may be made to St. David of Wales, 5641 Esmond Ave., Richmond 94805. The bride was attended by Miss Annie Powell as maid of honor, who wore a gown of pink and carried pink and white sweet peas. The bridesmaids were Miss Cecelia Plummer and Miss Alice Potter. They were prettily gowned in embroidered batiste, trimmed with lace and carried bouquets of pink sweet peas. Mrs. Mabie wore a black lace costume, with silver applique and the bridegroom's mother wore a gown of black crepe de chine. A small reception followed at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer M. Mabie, in Elmwood avenue. White and green were the decorations used at the bride's table, which was laid with fourteen covers. Mr. and Mrs. Ballin will be at home after August 1st at No. 188 West Utica street. The out-of-town guests were Mrs. John Ormsbee of Utica. George B. Holloway of Detroit, Webster B. Mabie of New York and Mrs. Henry Voman of New Jersey."3 |
