His illness covered a period of only a few weeks, and his condition was considered serious for but a few days prior to his death. The funeral was held at the church on Jan. 23d, with Masonic honors, as he had been a member of the Order for over fifty years; sermon by his pastor, the Rev. S. E. Sargeant; burial in the family lot. He is survived by his widow, two daughters (Miss Cora Mabey and Mrs. LeRoy France), one son (Edward), three grandchildren and one sister (Mrs. Warren Finch), all of this place, and one brother (G. H. Mabey of Oak Hill), besides a large circle of other relatives and friends, who mourn his loss.14 |
