Born October 23, 1918 in Canton, he was a son of the late Harry Ellsworth and Frona Alma Hewitt Mabie. Harry loved to spend time on his family farm, east of Carrollton, which remains in the family today. He was well known in the Dellroy area as the owner and operator of the former Heather's Restaurant. Previously, he had worked in cost accounting for various steel mills. Harry met, fell in love with, and married his wife, the late Heather M. Bright in Australia, while he was serving in the United States Army during World War II. Together, they spent more than fifty years raising a family that includes a son Harry Joseph Jr. "Joey" and his wife Heidi Mabie of Dellroy, and a daughter Heather and her husband Roy Johnson of Malvern. He'll be sadly missed by his sister, Twila Mabie of Louisville, and two granddaughters Torie and Casey Johnson, as well as many friends and acquaintances he made over his lifetime. At his request, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory. His family will receive friends Sunday, September 7, from 1 to 3 at the funeral home located on the corner of Second St. NE and East High Avenue in downtown New Philadelphia. (Mentioned) oObit Lilly Belknap was mentioned in the obituary of William Oscar Mabee at Warwick, New York; William Oscar Mabee, the son of the late John Mabee of Warwick, died at his home in New York city, last Thursday night, July 7, aged 53 years.
For a year and a half Mr Mabee has been seriously ill with heart disease and other complications which made it necessary for him to practically abandon active business he maintained his naturally cheerful spirit, however, and on the day he died had felt better than usual. Shortly after retiring for the night, Mrs Mabee awoke to find that her husband had expired without the slightest warning.
Mr Mabee was born in Warwick and resided here until about 25 years ago. His first business venture was the establishment of a grocery store on Railroad avenue, which he afterward sold to R F Vail, and went into business in New York city. Subsequesnly he conducted a gents' furnishing goods store in Newburgh and was appointed by William R Brown as Inspector of Clothing at Sing Sing Prison, a position which he filled with credit to himself and with great satisfaction to the State.
Mr Mabee was afterward connected with the North American Mercantile Agency as soliciting agent for New York city, continuing in this capacity until the time of his death.
While residing in Newburg Mr Mabee married Miss Lillie Belknap, daughter of Mrs John L Belknap, who with three children, survive him. The deceased is also survived by one brother, James D of the Dispatch office, and five sisters – Katurah and Mary of Warwick; Mrs Hester A McCornal of Newburgh; Mrs Magdalene B Simpson of Newton N. J., and Mrs Alice Montross of Warwick.
"Will" as he was familiarly called in town, was a model man in many respects. For modest politeness, kindness, good cheer, strict integrity and unostentatious Christian character it is rare to find his equal. He made friends everywhere and was universally respected and trusted.
Services were conducted at his late residence in New York city on Saturday evening and the remains were brought to Warwick on Sunday, the funeral being held at the M. E. Church in the afternoon by the Rev E H Carr, and were largely attended. Interment in Warwick Cemetery.8

Mother*Lilly Belknap1 b. 2 Dec 1859, d. 7 Mar 1943
Birth*13 September 1892 Elliott Brown Mabee was born on 13 September 1892 at Ossining, New York.2
(Witness) oObit10 July 1898 He was mentioned in the obituary of William Oscar Mabee on 10 July 1898 at New York City, New York; Death of William Oscar Mabee in New York City, born 4/2/1845, formerly of Warwick, Orange County, NY. Had resided in the city "about 20 years", employed by the American Mercantile Agency, resided at 298 West 138th Street. Left a widow, one son and two daughters.3
(Mentioned) oObit Elliott Brown Mabee was mentioned in the obituary of William Oscar Mabee at Warwick, New York; William Oscar Mabee, the son of the late John Mabee of Warwick, died at his home in New York city, last Thursday night, July 7, aged 53 years.
Interment in Warwick Cemetery.4
