He was born in Alexander, Manitoba on November 21, 1929 the eldest child of Harry and Isabella (Rabe) Owens.
He was an oil man from his early years working with his father's oil delivering company and then coming to Saint John, NB, in the early 1960's to work from the Irving Oil Refinery. He retired from the company in 1992.
Bill was a long time curler, golfer and bowling enthusiast. He and his Manitoba and NB curing teams won several bonspiels during his younger years. In later years following his retirement he spent many winters in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, among friends golfing and enjoying the sun.
He will be missed by his son, Christopher (Gayle) Owens and their daughter Emileigh of Quispamsis, also left behind are his adopted children, Mary Lou (Joseph) Arseneault and Georgina (Peter) Atkinson of Fredericton, Frederick (Valarie) Owens of Moncton and Sara Owens their mother.
He is survived by his brother Robert of BC and Murray of Alexander, Manitoba, and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Bill was predeceased by his parents and sister Harriet Honeycutt.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Shannex, Quispamsis, for their help and support of Bill during his stay there.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Although there will be no funeral service, the family will be accepting friends at the funeral home on Friday, July 29 2016 from 11AM – 2PM to share their stories of Bill's life.
An internment will be held in Alexander, Manitoba at a later date.4

She will be remembered by her sons Thomas (Debby) of Grand Bay-Westfield, Jamie (Tammy) of Gondola Point, and Barry of Saint John; Daughter Laurie Sweet of Saint John. Edith will also be missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Edith was predeceased by her parents Murray Charles Mabee and Georgina Althea Snodgrass (Dickson); brothers Robert and Charlie Mabee; sisters Colleen Duncan, and Mary "Dolly" Hope.
