He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Elkhart, Ind., to Charles and Wenonah (Atkinson) Mabie. Arden served in the Army Special Forces during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 93 in Dunlap, Ind.
Arden retired from Sharp Steel Service and Penguin Point Franchise in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann (Master) whom he wed on Oct. 18, 1969, in South Bend, Ind. Also surviving are his four children, Grant (Joy) Mabie, Coral (Lio) Mabie, Leslie (Deron) Kosloski, Charlene (Gary) Mabie-Gamble, and one adopted daughter, Cindy (Merle) Sater; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary (Robert) Clemans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Clemans.
There will be no visitation per his request. Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services.4

oObit*4 September 2019  On 4 September 2019 at Elkhart, Indiana, the obituary of Betty Ann Master read: Betty Ann (Master) Mabie, 78, of Osceola, passed away at 4:16 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, in her home, after a 6-year battle with cancer.
Betty was born June 2, 1941, in Elkhart, to Lester and Grace (Eggleston) Master, the oldest of seven siblings. Surviving are Pamela (Kenneth) Kauffman, Joyce (Roger) Kauffman, Rita (Roger) Hershberger, Susan (George) Perez and Rhonda (Loren) Bixler, all of Goshen.
A brother, Douglas, preceded her in death. Also preceding in death were her parents and her husband.
Betty graduated from Goshen High School in 1959.
She married Arden E. Mabie on Oct. 18, 1969, in Elkhart.
Her favorite job was as a "People Pleaser" at Penguin Point, Elkhart, for 30 years.
She was devoted to her family.
Surviving are a son, Grant (Joy Heim) Mabie, of Indianapolis; daughters Coral (Lio Rivera) Mabie, of Grand Prairie, Texas, Leslie (Deron) Kosloski of South Bend and Charlene (Jim Harris) Mabie of Osceola; 12 grandchildren, May Mabie, Julian Mabie, Natalia Mabie, Ron (Ngoc) Swan, Bryan (Amanda) Swan, Natasha (Josh) Wolf, Tiffany (Jeremiah) Brownbridge, Megan (Eric) Holt, Joshua Mabie, Steven (Sara Hachey) Mabie, Alyssa (Howard) Maddox and David (Alex) Spears; and 24 great-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, at St. Mark Missionary Church, 55240 Bittersweet Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
Elkhart Cremation Services is entrusted with her care.5

The Mabey family announces the peaceful passing of their mother Marjorie Elizabeth Mabey of Saint John, wife of Reginald (Ted) Mabey and daughter of the late Percy E. and Sadie A. (Vincent) Moore. She lived all her life in Saint John working at Simms Brush Factory before her marriage and at Sears Canada for many years following the raising of her four children. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church and the former Victoria Street Baptist Church where she was a Charter member of the Golden Chain Class. She and her husband, Ted, dedicated more than a quarter of a century of their lives to the boys of the Wolf Club Pack and Boy Scout Troop of Victoria Street Baptist Church and Scouting in general. She also served as a District Commissioner of Cubs for the Saint John Region and a Gilwell Camp Leader for New Brunswick. Boy Scouts of Canada conveyed the Medal of Merit and Bar upon her for her tireless and exceptional service to Scouting. An Honourary membership of the 61st B-P Guild of Canada was bestowed upon her in 2003. She was a life member of the Pythian Sisters and served as Most Excellent Chief of Loyalist #13 Temple Pythian Sisters on several occasions. She is survived by two sons, Robert (Bob & Heather) Mabey of Rothesay, NB; Gerald (Gerry & Margaret) Mabey of Saint John; daughter-in-law, Gail Mabey of Saint John; one daughter, Valerie (Richard) Grant of Saint John; one sister, Verna Blackwell of Sudbury, Ont; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her mother and father she was pre-deceased by a son, David; one brother, Robert Moore and a sister, Audrie Dryer. Her family gives praise to God for the mother she was and for where she is now. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, "Fallsview Chapel", 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Wednesday, June 30th from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, July 1st from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held at Main Street Baptist Church, 211 Main Street, Saint John, NB on Friday, July 2nd at 1:00am. Valerie was the wife of Richard Grant, the daughter of the late Reginald (Ted) and Marjorie (Moore) Mabey. Valerie is survived by two sons Lorne (Lisa), Todd (Bonnie) both of Saint John; three grandchildren Courtney, Jonah, Tony (Caitlin); great grandson Logan; brothers Robert (Heather) Mabey of Rothesay, Gerald (Margaret) Mabey of Saint John. Valerie will also be remembered by her sister-in-law Gail as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, one brother David Mabey, and her mother-in-law Frances Grant. Valerie was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, Pythian Sisters Loyalist Temple #13. Valerie loved doing crafts and gardening and playing the organ in many places including Castle Funeral Home for many years. Valerie will be missed by long time friend Marlene Perry, Gary and Pat Tait and thanks to Rae, the security guard at SJRH. Special thanks to Extra Mural, especially Cathy Kennedy.
