Howard Rexford Bailey1

M, #32932, b. 27 January 1898, d. September 1982
Birth*27 January 1898 Howard Rexford Bailey was born on 27 January 1898 at Jefferson, Schoharie County, New York, son of Roscoe Bailey and Elvena Pierce.2,1
Anecdote*12 September 1918 Howard Rexford Bailey of RD#2, Stamford, Del Co, born Jan 27, 1898, registered for the draft on 12 Sep 1918, at Schoharie County, New York. He was a farmer for (his father) Roscoe Bailey at Jefferson, Scho, NY. His nearest living relative was his mother, Elvana Baily at the above address. He was white, tall, slender, with light blue eyes and dark brown hair.1
Marriage*3 November 1923 He married Helen E Mabey, daughter of William Mabey and Alice Champlin, on 3 November 1923 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York.3
(Mentioned) oObit9 May 1929 Howard Rexford Bailey was mentioned in the obituary of of Helen E Mabey on 9 May 1929 at Stamford, New York; Aged 27 years, Helen E. Bailey, wife of Howard Bailey of Mt. Jefferson, died at the Delhi Sanatarium, Thursday evening, May 2, 1929, and her body was laid to rest Sunday in the Jefferson cemetery, where the spring sunshine is kissing nature into new life and where May flowers are adorning the greensward with beauty.
Before the open grave tear dimmed eyes gave expression of love and of esteem and sad hearts said the last goodbye to a mother who had closed her eyes on earth to awake in the beautiful summer land above. Nature, too, shed tears, for as the body was carried to its final resting place, rain drops from heaven fell upon the casket, symbolizing the great sorrow of many who had come to this parting of the of the ways.
Helen's connection with the South Jefferson church dates from childhood. She was of a quiet disposition, possessed of a sympathetic heart, ambitious for her child, home, and for her Master's cause. She peacefully closed her eyes and bade farewell to home and friends and entered into rest. A little boy of three years is left without a mother and will miss her loving care. Besides her husband she leaves a mother, Mrs. Alice Mabey; a sister, Mrs. Andrew Zak of Cornell Hollow, and a brother, Fred Mabey, of South Jefferson. Their homes are lonely and sad today for mother, sister and wife is gone. Though the clouds may now seem dark and heavy, yet through the shadows opens a track of golden splendors when by faith we look forward to blessed immortality.
The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Ellsworth at the Bailey home at 11:15 Sunday morning. An abundance of flowers, a house full of people testified to the worth of one who had been called home.4
Marriage*9 July 1932 Howard Rexford Bailey married Ada Belle Mabey, daughter of Alvah Mabey and Flora McKee, on 9 July 1932 at Athens, Greene County, New York.
"Miss Ada Mabie of Gilboa and Howard Bailey of Jefferson were united in marriage Thursday, July 9, at the Baptist parsonage by Rev. H. O. Ellsworth. From here they motored to Amsterdam for a honeymoon visit with Mr. Bailey's relatives. Prof, and Mrs. Rott of the high school of that city."5
Death*September 1982 Howard Rexford Bailey died in September 1982 at Stamford, Delaware County, New York, at age 84.6
Burial* He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Jefferson, Schoharie County, New York.7
