John J Mercum, the prosecuting attorney said that the three neighbors had been targeted because they annoyed Mabie – Kerian because her young son ran around the yard, and Lester and LeVecchia because they made noise renovating their house. Supposedly he had mental problems after, in 1971, a couple kids drove their go cart into the path of his car – an 11 year old boy died, and he went downhill after that.
