- "Prudence Brattle Mather Mabee, 85, died May 9, 2001 suddenly after suffering years with Alzheimer's. Prudence was the daughter of Adrian Whitford Mather and Jessie McNair Mather, both deceased, of Albany, New York. She was a graduate of the St. Agnes School, Albany, New York and Wheelock College, Boston.
After graduation from Wheelock, she established a year-round nursery in her home in Albany, New York until her marriage to Douglas Williams Mabee, Saratoga Springs, New York in July, 1940. Initially they lived in New York City, then Rye, New York after which they established numerous residents (sic) upon his retirement in 1970, Stratton Mt., Vermont, Egertown, Maine, Sawgrass CC, Ponte Vedra, Florida, Linvile Ridge, North Carolina, Vicars Landing, PVB.
She was a member of the New York Junior League and the 10th Twig of the United Hospital, Port Chester, New York. Her ancestors are the first Governor of Missouri, Alexander McNair, and Rev. Richard Mather of Boston, one of the founders of Harvard College.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Douglas W. Mabee, Ponte Vedra: daughters, Martha Mabee, Ponte Vedra and Maria Mason, Bainbridge Island,Washington: son, Douglas Mather Mabee, Saratoga Springs, New York and five grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 18, 2001, 10 a.m. at Vicars Landing Chapel,. the Reverend Jerald Ralston, officiating. Burial will be in Greenfield Cemetery, Saratoga Springs, New York in July."

York, son of Mr and Mrs. Walter Mabee of Saratoga Springs and Camden. S.C., took place. Saturday afternoon in the garden of the bride's uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. George Wolverton Stedman of Loudonville. Dr. George A. Taylor, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church performed the ceremony.

Steels of Albany. Miss Barbara Kibbee of Troy. Mrs. Ellis Judd Staley Jr., of Loudonville and Mrs. Edmund Ingersoll of Shaker Heights , Ohio. Sarah Stedman and Patricia Fairfield Mather wereflower girls.
Herbert F. Roy Jr., of Troy was the best man and the ushers were Alexander McNair Mather of Schenectady , brother of the bride. Cary Potter of Islip, L.I.. Stuart W. Don of Plainfield, N.J., Gordon Haynes of Winston-Salem, N C, Lewis M. Smith of Atlanta. Ga., and Richard Keppleman of Rye.
After a wedding trip, Mr. and Mrs. Mabee will reside at 531 East Seventy-second street. New York. Mrs. Mabee attended St. Agnes and Wheelock schools. She is a member of the Junior league of Albany. Mr. Mabee attended Hotchkiss and Fessenden schools and Yale University . He is a member of Zela Psi fraternity and the Saratoga Golf club. He is in business in New Haven, Conn
