- After an illness only one week, Mary L. Stevens passed to her rest at 12:50 Friday morning at the home of her daughter. Mrs. J. Ogden Goble, near the village of Florida, N. Y.
Mrs. Stevens was the oldest of six children born to Jacob Mabee and Hannah Wanamaker Mabee, at the old Mabee homestead, near Glenmere Lake. She was married to Albert F. Stevens. of Sugar Loaf, November 1, 1860, who departed this life May 21, 1910.
To this union were born three children, Carrie E., wife of J. Ogden Goble, of Florida; Finley Stevens. of Newark. N. Y., who survive her, and Fred M., the youngest, who died March 15, 1916. Mrs. Stevens is also survived be one sister, Mrs. Eliza House, and two brothers, John and Jacob Mabee, of Goshen.
Shortly after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens purchased the farm on the State road from Florida to Warwick, where they resided for over 40 years until the death of husband and father, since which time she had made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Goble, so that all of her 80 years was passed almost in sight of the house where she was born.
Mrs. Stevens was a remarkably well preserved and active women for one of her advanced years and able to be about her usual duties, taking an interest in everything about hert until a few days before her death.
The funeral will be held from the home of her daughter. Mrs. Goble, on Sunday afternoon Aug. 25th at 2:30. Rev. Albert Chamberlain officiating. Burial in the Florida Cemetery.
