- George W. Mabey. one of Stamford's best known residents, died at his home in Stamford, Tuesday afternoon April 1. 1930. after an illness that extended over a period of many months.
Mr. Mabey had suffered a shock two years ago and since that time he had been confined to his home where he had been tenderly cared for by his family.
Mr. Mabey was born at South Gilboa in November. 1855. the son of Stephen and Harriet Mabey. He was married 48 years ago to Lucy Hanford of Hobart. who survives him. A resident of Stamford for the past 24 years, he had conducted a farm before coming to the village where for the past 18 years he had conducted an
auto livery.
Besides his widow, Mr. Mabey is survived by two sons, Ralph of Corning, and Harry of Stamford; two brothers, Alvin and Stephen of South Gilboa: three sisters. Mrs. Ella Ferris of Albany. Mrs. Sarah Van Hoesen of South Gilboa. and Mrs. Irving Chichester of Stamford.
The funeral, which was very largely attended by relatives and friends, was held from the -Stamford M. E. Church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, tho Rev. W. L. Comstock officiating There was a beautiful display
of flowers. Interment was made in the Stamford cemetery
