Obituary |
- Patsy Lee Mabie Denman was born on August 26, 1930 in Memphis, Tenn. to Sallie Barrow and Lloyd Edward Mabie. Patsy went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 2, 2007.
Reared in the Mississippi Delta in Helena, Ark., Patsy graduated from Baylor University in 1952 with bachelor's and master's degrees in education. During college, she took the Queen Mary to Europe, where she studied for a semester in Paris. She began teaching school in Galveston where she met Dr. John Denman, her future husband, who was an intern at University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. They were married in 1953 and moved to New Orleans, where she taught school. Subsequently, they moved to Dallas where Dr. Denman completed his residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Patsy taught at Southern Methodist University.
Patsy has been an inspiration to her family and friends, particularly the courageous way she dealt with advancing cancer. She led a Godly life and was engaged in her church activities at Park Cities Presbyterian Church and also a Bible study class. Patsy served on the Boards of Hope Cottage and Visiting Nurses Association, and was active in the Dallas Womans' Club, Junior League of Dallas, Dallas Garden Club, Park Cities Historical Society, Dallas Country Club and the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Sara Lee who married Stan Gardner and their three children, Madison, Helen and Luke, son Jack who married Patti Phillips and their two children, John and Mary Ellen, and son Lloyd who married Kristin Lackey and their two children, Anna and Cole.
She was a vibrant outgoing mother and friend, an inspiration to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed by all of us who loved her dearly.
