- Jack Mabee, 59, one of Hollywood's more colorful restauranteurs, died early yesterday at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital after a minth's illness. He resided at 3212 DeWitt Drive.
Mr Mabee was born in Oklahoma when it was Indian Territory and spent many years as a cowboy in Montana beforming a wild west show called the Great Northern Stampede. He came to Southern California in 1921 and became an automobile dealer in Santa Ana.
Tiring of this, he opened a tavern on Santa Monica Blvd, Hollywood in 1933. The place became a rendezvous for Westerners who drifted to Hollywood hoping to hog-tie a fortune. Mr Mabee grubstaked many of them.
Recently he half retired from business to run a small café in Niland. He leaves besides his widow, Cecile, two brothers, Roy of Anaheim and George of Hanford, and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be tomorrow at Pierce Bros Hollywood Mortuary. Interment will follow in Inglewood Park Cemetery.

- Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock at Pierce Bros Hollywood chapel for former cattle rancher and champion broncho rider, Jack Mabee, 60, who died Tuesday at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital.
Mabee until recently a Hollywood restaurant owner, succumbed to a liver ailment.
He leaves his wife Cecile at the family home at 3212 DeWitt drive, Universal City; a grandchild, Mrs Joan Schroeder, of Klamath Falls; two brothers, Roy Mabee of Anaheim and George Mabee of Hanford; two half brothers, Fred and Frank Brown; and a half sister, Mrs Florence Weston, all of Los Angeles.
