- Mrs Launa Mabee, 83, last of a Deer Creek pioneer family of nine children, and a resident of that community for 53 years, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Washington hospital following an illness of one week. She had been in failing health one year.
Born in Deer Creek township Oct. 16, 1868, she was a daughter of William and Rhoda Hanon Sweezy. She married Marshall Mabee in Deer Creek March 28, 1887. He died there Feb 28, 1938.
Funeral services for Mrs Mabee will be held at her residence in Deer Creek at1 pm Friday and at 1:30 pm Friday at Deer Creek Baptist church. The Rev J Huber Dixon will officiate. Burial will be I Mt Zion cemetery.
Surviving are the following sons and daughters: Mrs Carrie Kennedy, Deer Creek; William E. Mabee, Rockford; Clarence M, Peoria; Eugene R, Deer Creek; Chester P and Stanley D, both of East Peoria; Mrs Luna Miller, Deer Creek; Theodore of Mackinaw; and Miss Ruth Mabee of Jacksonville, 17 grandchildren and 20 grear grandchildren.
One brother and seven sisters are dead.

- Mrs Carrie Jane Kennedy, 63, died Tuesday in Methodist Hospital, Peoria, where she had been a patient since Dec. 19 when she suffered a stroke....
Mrs Kennedy was born Feb 16, 1889 in East Peoria, a daughter of Marshall ans Laura Swesey Mabee. She was married to Hugh Kennedy in Deer Creek Oct 16, 1916
Surviving are her husband; four daughters, Mrs Eleanor Whittington, Tremont; Mrs Alice Wise, Deer Creek; Mrs Elsie Azbill, Congerville; and Mrs Virginia Platte, Greenville, S.C.; two sons, Clarence, Deer Creek, and Arthur, with the US Army; 12 grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: William E. Mabee, Rockford; Clarence M. Mabee, Peoria; Eugene R. Mabee, Deer Creek; Chester P. And Stanley D. Mabee, both of East Peoria; Mrs Laura Miller, Chicago; Theodore Mabee, Mackinaw; Miss Ruth Mabee, Jacksonville. One brother preceded her in death....

- Eugene R Mabee, 77, of 1117 Summer Street died 5:40 a.m. Friday in Pekin Memorial Hospital. He had been a patient threr for three weeks and in ill health two years.
His funeral will be Monday at Kuecks-Woolsey Funeral Home, the Rev Richard McQuinn officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.
He was born Sept 10, 1899 at Deer Creek, a son of Marshall and Laune Swefy Mabee. He married Emaline F. Brown July 6, 1921, in Peoria. She died July 9, 1959. He married Beulah l. Henricks Sept 5, 1961 at Rockford.
Surviving are his wife; a son Robert, Byron Center, Mich; two sisters, Mrs Launa Miller, Goleta, Calif, and Miss Ruth, East Peoria; five brothers, William E, Showlow, Ariz; Clarence M, Peoria; Theodore, Pekin; Chester P and Stanley D, both of East Pretoria; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A sister and a brother preceded him in death.
He was employed by Memorial Consultants, Peoria for 14 years befor retiring in 1966.
He was a member of the Christian Church and Taylor Masonic Lodge, both in Washington. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Fund.
