- Ernest C. Maby, 85, formerly of 6 Rudolph Ave. in Kittery, died on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at the Mark H. Wentworth Home in Portsmouth, N.H. He was born on May 21, 1919 in Kittery, the son of Edward G. and Marion (Milliken) Maby, and attended local schools, graduating from R.W. Traip Academy with the class of 1936. Directly following graduation, he entered the apprenticeship program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, where he served 37 years as an electrical engineer before his retirement in 1974. In 1946, he married his loving wife of 54 years, Judith (Halliday) Maby; together they made their home in Kittery until her death in 2000. He was very active in his community serving on the budget and finance committee, school board, assessment review board and served as a town councilor. He enjoyed photography. Processing his work in his dark room at home was a favorite past time. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. He is survived by one son, Edward Maby of Redondo Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Mildred Cushman of Cape Elizabeth, and Elizabeth Rainier and her husband Andy of Kittery; two brothers, Edward and his wife Ruth Maby of Kittery and Earl Maby of Monson, Mass.; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife in 2000. A funeral was celebrated on Saturday at his church, St. John's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth, with burial to follow in Orchard Grove Cemetery in Kittery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Rice Public Library, 8 Wentworth St. in Kittery, ME 03904. Arrangements are entrusted to the J.S Pelkey Funeral Home of Kittery.

- Earl M. Maby, 86, passed away Nov. 24th in Wilbraham, near his home in Monson, where he had resided since 2004. He taught mathematics and physics at Lee High School from 1948 to 1980. Earl was a graduate of Traip Academy in Kittery, Maine, where he was a champion debater. Earl graduated from Boston University and later received a master's degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He served in the Navy during World War II as a radar technician.
He enjoyed duplicate bridge and golfing. He was member of Greenock Country Club. Earl was the beloved father of Carol Maby Watroba and her husband, Richard, of Monson and Marion Maby and her husband, Sai Chang, of Sedona, Ariz. He was devoted grandfather of Christopher, Austin, Brandon and Amanda Watroba and the late Keith Wells. He was the loving companion for over 30 years of Bertha Wilcox, who predeceased him 2001. Earl leaves his cherished sisters, Betty Rainer of Kittery, Maine, and Mildred Cushman of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, his dear brother, Edward A. Maby of Kittery, and he was a caring friend to Bertha Wilcox, Glenn and Linda Wilcox, Alan and Lynne Wilcox, Douglas and Sally Wilcox of Lee, Betsy and Richard Kelly of Lee, Susan and Luis Martinez of Boone, Idaho, Scott Wilcox of Signal Hill, Calif., and all of their children.
There will be an 11 a.m. graveside service at Fairmont Cemetery in Lee on Dec. 1st. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104-2396. The Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
