- Speeding as swiftly as steam will carry her, Miss Anna Mabie, daughter of Mrs. Sanford Mabie, of No. 114 West 114th street, is on board a steamship bound for Puerto Rico to become the bride on Thursday of Clarence W. Shape. She is accompanied by Mr. Shape's mother, Mrs. W. H. Shape, of No. 280 Manhattan avenue.
Miss Mabie is making the trip of nearly two thousand miles to be married because her fiancé cannot come to her. Mr. Shape is an internal revenue agent at Ponce, and because he has been in the service only a year he was unable to obtain a leave long enough to permit him to come to this city to get his bride. That was his intention when he and Miss Mabie became engaged by correspondence on Easter Sunday.
Miss Mabie is twenty-one years old, and Mr. Shape is twenty-four. When first appointed to the revenue service he was stationed at Arecibo, P. R., where he had been until recently. The two grew up together in this city, and attended the same school. They have been sweethearts for ten years. Mr. Shape is a son of W. H. Shape, of this city, branch manager of the Lyon Brewery.
Miss Pillar Catinchi, of Ponce, a Spanish young woman whom Miss Mabie met in this city, will be bridesmaid, and Miss Catinchi's brother will be best man.
