TRUMAN — Rebecca “Becky” Anne Davis passed peacefully Thursday, March 28, 2024, at her home in Truman, Minn., after a short, brave fight with cancer. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Zaharia Family Funeral Home in Truman. The funeral will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Truman Church of Christ, with visitation prior at 9:30 a.m.
“Becky” Anne Davis was born April 7, 1942, to Harland and Elizabeth (Betty Kinney) Mabie in Rockford, Ill. Becky grew up in Rockford, attending Rockford Public Schools and graduating from West High School in 1960. She attended Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, Ill. from 1960-1962 where she met her lifetime love, Merrill Davis. They married May 16, 1964, and moved to Pirmesens, Germany Army Base where Merrill served as a Chaplain’s assistant. Becky made a home there for them both and volunteered for the Red Cross.
They moved back stateside to Rockford in 1966 and Becky worked for Cotta Transmission until the couple moved to Lincoln, Ill. for Merrill to finish his college undergraduate education. From there, ministry took them many places: Morgantown, Ind., Oregon, Ill., Le Mars, Iowa and finally, Truman, Minn.
Becky became a mother on April 2, 1972, when son Rob was born. Becky enjoyed growing her family when son Ryan was born June 16, 1980. In addition to being a homemaker and Mom, Becky enjoyed being a parent chaperone for school music activities, singing in the church choir, playing piano and teaching Sunday school. Additionally, Becky managed their Christian book store in Oregon, Ill. for 10 years.
Becky and Merrill served together in church ministry for over 52 years and were married for 59 years. Together they traveled the country, attending church conventions and relishing time spent with their family and friends in ministry. Becky enjoyed travelling, especially to Door County, Wis. and she passed that passion on to her son Rob and his family. She also loved to read, even her boys’ comic books, especially GI Joe.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Harland and Elizabeth Mabie; her brother, James Mabie; and her in-laws, Robert and Eva Davis. She is survived by her husband, Merrill; sons, Rob (Michelle) of Omaha, Neb. and Ryan (girlfriend, Jessie) of Grand Prairie, Texas; brother, Mark (Jill) Mabie; sister, Annette (James) Ragan; sister-in-law, Juanita Mabie; grandchildren, Jackson, Jadyn and Brekyn; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Truman Church of Christ in memory of Becky.
