- Mrs. Mary Shilletto Mabie, wife of E. Herbert Mabie, passed away early Tuesday morning at her late home after a long, painful illness.
Her funeral was largely attended Thursday afternoon from the Christian church of which she was a faithful member and teacher in the Sunday school when her illness began.
Her, pastor, the Rev. Myron Tripp, officiated and interment took place in the local cemetery.
Bearers were the three sons of the deceased, Herbert, Jr., Frank and Frederick, her two son-in-laws, Elliott Brodie, James Webster and Fred Snyderi
She-was born fifty-seven years ago at Mead, Washington and came here when very young. She was the daughter of the late John and Luella Shilletto.
She was a graduate of Cooperstown, High school and Schenevus Teachers' Training class and taught five years prior to her marriage in 1912 to E. Herbert Mabie, who survives her; also five children, five grandchildren, an aunt, Mrs. Nellie Shilletto, Oneonta and an uncle, William Michaels, Cooperstown, besides a host of: friends who extend sincere sympathy to the. bereaved family.

- Linda R. Mabie, 56, passed away suddenly Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born Sept. 27, 1948, in Cooperstown, the daughter of Herbert J. and Mildred A. Mabie. A lifelong area resident, she worked as a nurse's aide at Bassett Healthcare. She was a member of the First Christian Church of South Valley. Survivors include her father, Herbert J. Mabie; a sister, Margaret Mabie; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Marsha Mabie and Art and Carol Mabie; lots of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Mildred Mabie. Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004, at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Terence Brant officiating. Burial will follow in the South Valley Cemetery,

- Mr. Frederick E. Mabie, 78, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2005, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
He was born Oct. 18, 1926, in South Valley, the son of E. Herbert and Mary (Shillipo) Mabie. On Nov. 24, 1946, he married Norma D. Edwards in South Valley. She predeceased him in 1989.He was a self-employed farmer in Roseboom. Later he was owner and operator of the Cargo Gas Station, Canajoharie. He also did carpentry and finishing work in Albany. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Lori Mabie of Albany, Larry and Patricia Mabie of Fultonville, Rodney and Cindy Mabie of Canajoharie, and Rickke and Brenda Mabie of Ballston Spa; a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Daniel Gustafson of Cobleskill; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Herbert (Stub) Mabie of Westford; two sisters, Myra Webster of Cherry Valley and Luella Brodie of South Valley; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Frank Mabie, in 1997. Funeral services will be held at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, at noon Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005, with the Rev. Alan Miller officiating. Calling hours will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005, and from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday. Mr. Mabie will be placed in the Ottman Funeral Home vault to await spring burial in the South Valley Cemetery, South Valley. Contributions in Mr. Mabie's memory may be made to any area Hospice. - Herbert (Stub) J. Mabie, 92, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, April 17, 2010, after a long illness with his family by his side.
He was born July 10, 1917, in South Valley, to E. Herbert and Mary (Shillito) Mabie.
He was married Feb. 4, 1941, to Mildred Anna Snyder, his beloved wife of 50 years. She passed away July 2, 1991.
Herbert was a lifelong resident of South Valley, where he was born and raised and also attended school. In his early years, he worked and then managed his family farm. He also was employed by the Town of Roseboom, as highway superintendent, and was an Otsego County Correctional Officer. He worked as a carpenter for many years.
He was dedicated to his family and community. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Herbert was a trustee of the South Valley/Pleasant Brook Cemetery Association, and acted as a deacon and trustee of the South Valley Christian Church for many years.
He along with his sons, and grandchildren enjoyed making maple syrup each year. Stub was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
He is survived by his sisters, Myra Webster of Cherry Valley, and Luella Brodie of South Valley; as well as his son, William H. Mabie; and daughter, Margaret L. Mabie, both of South Valley; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; wife; brothers, Frank H. Mabie and Fredrick E. Mabie; and his children, Linda Ruth Mabie and Arthur Lee Mabie.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 2010, at the South Valley Christian Church in South Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations to be made in his loving memory to the South Valley First Christian Church Building Fund, or to the American Heart Association.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley

- Louise E. Mabie, 100, of South Valley, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, at The Meadows in Middlefield.
Miss Mabie was born Oct. 13, 1895, in Butlers Corners, the daughter of Elmer and Minnie Lovejoy Mabie. She attended Butlers Corners District 1 School.
For many years she worked at the South Valley Glove Shop and also worked at the Marwell Chinchilla Farm.
She was the oldest member of the First Christian Church at South Valley where. she taught Sunday School and was church organist and pianist for many: years. Louise was a member of the Ladies Aid, Roseboom Grange, South Valley Women's Club and made lap robes and pillows for The Meadows.
Survivors include three nephews, Herbert Mabie and Frank Mabie of South Valley and Frederick Mabie of Fonda; two nieces, Luelle Brodie of South Valley and Myra Webster of Cherry Valley; many great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two o brothers, E. Herbert Mabie and Lee Mabie.
Funeral service was Monday, Feb. 19, at Ottman Funeral Home, the Rev. Alan Miller officiated. Burial will be in South Valley Cemetery in spring.
Calling hours were Sunday, Feb. 18, at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church of South Valley.
