- The many friends of Mrs. Maude Thompson, wife of Supervisor Homer Thompson, were shocked and saddened to hear of her passing early Wednesday morning, March 2nd, at her home at Butlers Corners of heart trouble. She had been in failing health for some time past and confined to her bed most of the time since Thanksgiving. In December she was taken on the advice of her physician to the M. L B . Hospital at Cooperstown where she remained three weeks under observation. From there she went to the home of her sister, Mrs. William Smith at Cooperstown where she remained for two week returning to her home here the latter part of January. She was loved by all who knew her, an earnest Christian, a devoted wife and mother and a kind and loving neighbor always ready to help in time of need.
Mrs. Thompson was the youngest of six children born to Arba Oscar and Louise (Tillapaugh) Mabie and was in her fifty-seventh year. (She has been a resident of this community all her life with the exception of a year or two when she resided, at Worcester. In December, 1900, she was united in marriage to Homer Thompson
The funeral services were held Friday afternoon,. March 4th, at 1:30 o'clock, at the house and at 2 p. m. from the M. P . church of which she was a member, conducted by the Rev. George S. Martin of South Butler, a former pastor, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Fuller of Paines Hollow and the Rev. Mr. Robinson of Maryland.
She is survived by her husband and two sons, Clyde at home and Drayton of this place; one sister, Mrs. William Smith of Cooperstown; two brothers, Elmer Mabie of South Valley and Gifford Mabie of Worcester; also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The many and beautiful floral pieces showed the esteem in which she was held. The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family. Relatives and friends from Worcester, Oneonta, Carlisle, Cherry Valley, Pleasant Brook, Westford, Schenevus, Maryland, Roseboom, Amsterdam, Binghamton, Schenectady and Dorloo attended the funeral.
