  	Betty Jean Putman, 77, of Johnstown, died Wednesday at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness. Born July 20, 1927 in Seward, NY, daughter of Maurice and Helen Mabie Strobeck. Betty devoted her life to being a homemaker. Loving and enjoying her family, she also enjoyed playing bingo. She was of the Protestant faith. She is survived by sons, William Putman and his wife Wendy of St. Leonard, MD, Wayne Putman of Amsterdam, Wade Putman and his companion, Clara Pike of Gloversville; daughter, Susan Brooker and her husband Gerald of Freeland, PA; sister, Evelyn Strobeck of Johnstown; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Maurice Strobeck. A funeral service will be on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Barter & Donnan Funeral Home with Rev. R.W. Williams, chaplain of Mt. Valley Hospice, officiating. Cremation will follow in Parkview Crematory. Friends may call from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wells House Auxiliary, 201 W. Madison Ave., Johnstown, NY 12095.

  	A very pleasant event took place at the Methodist Protestant parsonage in Pleasant Brook. .Monday morning March 27th. when Morris Strobeek of Seward and Miss Helen L. Mabie, one of South Valley's popular young ladies were quietly married by the Rev. George S. Martin. The bride was tastefully attired in. a brown traveling suit with hat to match. The ceremony was performed in the presence of the brides parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmet Mabie of South Valley. Mr. and Mrs. Strobeck will make her home in Seward where Mr. Strobeck has a position in the creamery.
