Unfortunately, Mackenzie did not document his sources well. The original manuscript and notes were donated to the Westchester County Historical Society, Mackenzie has a death date of 1792. However, this seems to be in error because Gilbert and Hannah show up in the 1800 census. This situation is further confused because Mackensie indicates that Esther, Rebecca, Mary and Aletta are the children of the 'first wife.' That would seem to imply that Mary was the first wife, not Hannah. But then Mary couldn't have been the widow described by Mackenzie.
